Huge, old-fashioned ’Brauhaus’ close to Thier Galerie and Bergmann Kiosk. Apart from their standard Original, they regularly offer a Zwickel, a seasonal if you’re lucky and some macros. Prices are quite okay, and the staff was rather attentive when I went there (it was almost empty on a Monday afternoon). Didn’t check the food but it looked very promising. Will come back for seasonals in the future.
Lovely interior, wooden and sophisticated. Staff had superb eye-contact reactions, and understood my broken german without problem. Anna got here first, and left me some sips to tick, and I just went and got my own portions - these are nice fresh tasty malty beers, sharing them needlessly is an insult. One of them was even a rerate (previous was exported bottle, so a different beast). This side of town is where you want to be - Bergmann and this place.
Visited this place on a Saturday before going to watch the game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern München. The place was large and with a friendly service. Located around 10 minutes walk from the Central Station in Dortmund. The Hövels Dortmunder Zwickelbier was a refreshing one. The food was tasty. Well worth a visit.
Visited the brewpub for the first time for a late little Mothers Day lunch. Service was quite nice (the manager/boss very attentive) but got its "unfriendly" moments when it came to paying the bill with EC card (just a note in the tone). Food was very tasty (the Hövels Senf / mustard delicious!) but the portions were quite tiny for their price. The beers were very nice and the interior cozy and welcoming. I will visit again for seasonals.
Visited on Sunday 28/04/13 around 1600.
Medium sized venue that was around 30% full on our arrival, Sunday luncheon parties were finishing off and leaving. Tiled and wooden floors, mix of low and high tables, brewereyana adoringing the walls and some interesting chandeliers made from beer bottles suspended from the ceiling.
Service was very prompt and efficient.
2 beers on tap on this visit, Hovels Maibock and Original from the house brewery.
Decent little venue around 5 mins walk from Wenkers and if you proceed to the HBF skirting the ring road you can also take in Bergmans kiosk (check opening hours).
Brewpub near the city-center. Atmosphere is great, but the service was on my visit not very friendly (more the opposite), and the prices are not very low either. The quality is good, the beers very tasty.
I’ll visit them for seasonal beers again, but nor for their service or prices...
