86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 Garbageman (19) Lexington, South Carolina | January 9, 2013 As one of Columbia’s original and still the best brewery, we love grabbing dinner here. The specials are always the best choice and the rotating brew great. | 46 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 2/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 10/20 nuplastikk (36) Madison, Wisconsin | October 1, 2012 A few blocks from the capital building. Meter parking. Sort of interesting fod menu. We had the smoked duck soup and the Prosciutto on Ciabatto...each pretty nice but hardly foodie caliber. They only had three beers on tap, a Porter, Pale Ale, and Wheat. 3.75 a pint. | 68 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 gvmdw7 (37) California | March 21, 2012 This is a beer rating website, so that was my primary focus with this rating. Unfortunately there are only 4 beers on tap, and the ESB was the best, but the beer left something to be deesired. That being said, the food was excellent. It had a great pub atmosphere, but I have a soft spot for exposed brick. If nothing else, the food is well worth the trip | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 craftycarl21 (71) Washington, Washington DC | April 30, 2011 Very cool place a block away from USC in Columbia. Great atmosphere with delicious food- had a really good salad. Beer is average to good, not a huge selection but still tasty stuff. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in town. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 beernovice39 (196) Montana | April 27, 2011 Great hole in the wall feel here. 3 beers, wheat, esb and pale on always with a fourth rotating and one guest. Great service. Next time will try some of the food. | 72 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 lambchop (6) South Carolina | April 1, 2011 Not too much of a selection but the ESB was rather spectacular. Good food amd kist a rather good place to hang out.; | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Velkyal (70) Charlottesville, Virginia | January 6, 2011| Updated November 28, 2011 The beer is nice and the food very nice. The barman was excellent and the place felt like a proper pub instead of some poncey beer bar. Just my kind of place.
Re-visit: went on Saturday evening after Thanksgiving. Again very good beer, the ESB was excellent and the stout a solid offering. Service was prompt and friendly, an all round good time again! | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 devilsuit (4) South Carolina | October 20, 2010| Updated November 28, 2011 Very friendly, neighborhood bar atmosphere. Beers are good, if not great & the ESB is a personal favorite. Kitchen gets many menu items locally, so food is fresh & tasty! | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 DrinkEmUpJones (9) Georgia | June 2, 2010| Updated November 28, 2011 The ambiance here is like a "nice dive." Service is outstanding and the food (specialty pizza, prosciutto appetizer & pulled pork sandwich) was STELLAR. The beers, however--and there were only 4 of them--were just OK. But that’s OK when pints only cost $3.75 (!!??). Next time I swing through Columbia, I will definitely make it a point to stop here again. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Pookie9121 (18) Atlanta, Georgia | March 20, 2010| Updated November 28, 2011 A nice little place. The ambiance is great. Not many places you can go in South Carolina and see animal heads on the wall. The ESB here is excellent. |
