I’ve been here once and it wasn’t because of the beer selection but rather because I was with a group of friends who had left a dinner party late and needed a relatively quiet yet centrally located place that would still be open. We ended up drinking gin and tonics. It’s expensive and the selection is made up of cheap, industrial crap. There is nothing redeeming about this place from the perspective of a craft beer enthusiast and giving the selection anything but a 1 is a joke.

Hviids Vinstue is one of the oldest pubs in Copenhagen and has existed for almost 300 years. Famous for their mulled wine served from November. Aaargh! Enough of this upper class history lesson. What about beer selection? Frankly, it’s just crap. This is not a craft beer destination. If historic ambiance turns you on, give it a try. Otherwise, head for the nearest craft beer bar. Great looking old pub that looks very much like a classic English pub. The service is always good too. Not a place to go for craft beers though - all they have is boring "normal" beer - and at a premium price too. A real tourist trap. I loke going there in November and December for Glřgg though (which is also expensive as hell, but at least it’s very good).

Exstremely cosy cellarbar. Alas they dont have any interesting beers. frindly service. You can get Jacobsen weiss or Kilkenny/Leffe. But if you need a stop just for coffee go for it. (I hear that they make a great glögg at christmas.

Nice old Danish bar, actually it should be a place for drinking wine. At Chistmas it’s nice to have a glass of Glögg at Hvid’s vinstue. As it was before the era of microbreweries, they only serve Carlsberg and Tuborg.

One of the oldes places in Copenhagen. Quite big but the place has been separated into various small rooms so it does not look so big. The dark wooded furtniture and the subdued lights for many years made it a dating place. I guess this is no more so as it is quite oldfashioned. Unfortunately the beer is quite boring and is not a place to go rating.

Hviid’s Vinstue is a lovely old place with its warren of dark wood panelled rooms and low ceilings but it really doesn’t qualify for a Ratebeer listing as it has only Tuborg, Carls Hvede, Luksus Ol, Kilkenny, Guinness and “Pilsner”, “Let Ol” and “Ale” of unspecified provenance.
I suppose if this is your first visit to Copenhagen and you want to try Tuborg or Carlsberg in their home town, it’s a good idea to drink them in nice surroundings but you could do better – the Bo Bi Bar (Klareboderne 14, open daily from 1000 to 0200) is also a traditional old Danish place – a cosy brown café with check table cloths - and it has a more interesting drinks menu which includes Fuglsang Early Bird, Limfjords Porter and – for full Danish authenticity – Porse Akvavit.

A traditional Danish in the heart of Copenhagen. A must visit when in CPH.
