A shocking experience. All alone on a Sunday evening, with the wall clock 45 minutes off and the old matrone coughing loudly at another table. Only three on tap, nothing exciting, and perhaps 20 on bottle, mainly industrial beer. This is not a place to go for a good beer experience. Or a good experience. Go to 3F or Centrumhotel instead. Nice garden patio. An elderly lady poured us a very hard to find Ulricher Lager from Girardin from tap for only 1,65 Ç. Nice stop for a quick beer.

Visited on a friday afternoon after some lambic hunting. Ok selection. Funny old interior. We sat outside in the garden. Had a Ulrichs pils. Fun to have a beer.

For anyone who is in Beersel -- at 3 Fonteinen for example -- and then wants to go see what a real Pajottenland lambic cafÚ is like. Quiet family place with lace curtains, instant coffee, grandma cooking, and old gals natting over glasses of Girardin.

Classy place with amazing food. Very solid beer selection. Friendly staff and locals. Definitely worth a peek while in Beersel.

Visited in the autumn of 2008. Should go back soon. Brilliant time chatting with the owners. When we were there, it was rather quiet, which allowed us to have nice talks with the owners. They know a thing or two about lambic as their father had his own geuze stekerij in the past, and they know a lot about local history.

Want to escape the big city? Want to leave the crowds? Want to leave the high prices of Brussels? Then this is your place. It has been run by five generations of the same family. It has been open for over 140 years. It is a true mom and pops place. Their beer selection is very good, about 40 bottles were there on the day I visited. The food was nice fresh and well made. Worth the short trip outside the city of Brussels for sure.

I visited early evening on a Monday, so perhaps unsurprisingly the Oude Pruim was rather quiet. However, this meant I was looked after royally by the staff. My steak with mushrooms was excellent and was washed down with enjoyable beers from Dupont and Girardin. The owner had a long chat with me and the prices were reasonable. Excellent all round.
