All three for around 10 Euro - you just can’t beat that. The giftshop is great too with a good selection of pates, cheeses and of course the beer.
I did not eat there, but the meny lloked good and the plates looked nice too. The wait staff was all business though. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 sdcourtney (13) Berlin, Germany, | April 9, 2013 Visited over Easter weekend, so couldn’t get the beer though the ’beer line’ and had to sample the three Westy’s here. Just had to stop by! Glad I came. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 Piero1987 (23) , Switzerland | April 9, 2013 Simply amazing. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 mikereserva (3) Schin op Geul, Netherlands | March 25, 2013 Quite modern place with hints of the abbey. Westvleteren is the only beer around here. Food is simple but ok. Prices are very fair. Service was ok. Very clean, but could do with a more classic interior / ambiance, to match perfectly with the whole abbey-trappist thing; Belgium is full of brilliant pubs with tons of ambiance, in large cities or small towns. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 14/20 dreadnord (32) San Diego, California | March 15, 2013 The famous cafeteria across the street from Sint Sixtus. It honestly felt to me like a college or high school cafeteria. Long tables where multiple families could sit with a few small tables. They must see quite a few tourists because the servers were all business. The prices are unbeatable for having a westy on premises. The food we had, cheese, pickels and onions, were very tasty. Neat place. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 15/20 DeclanT (20) Tervuren, Belgium | March 3, 2013 After queuing up for two crates of Westy 12 on a snowy February Monday we are relieved to find In de Verde open for lunch. Sadly it’s a bit characterless and reminded me a cross between a museum canteen and a motorway service station. Food was basic enough but tasty and service was very pleasant.. Oh and the beer was mighty fine..to sit back and drink an W8 followed by a 12 was just mind blowing after waiting so long. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 Glouglouburp (345) Montreal, Quebec | February 2, 2013 A mandatory stop for any beer geek. And well worth it. In the middle of nowhere, far from anything noisy or busy, a very relaxing experience. A surprisingly large interior. I expected a smaller cozy place. The patio is large and great. This place is definitely a must-visit during a nice summer day. Sitting inside the pub is probably not so great. There are two main reasons to go there. The first one is to be able to taste fresh young Westvleterens. Like most non-belgian people I’ve never had a Westy that wasn’t at least 6 months old. Some say that aged is better. I now disagree. A fresh Westy 12 is surprisingly hoppy and totally awesome. The second reason to go there is the Westy ice-cream. Might very well be the best ice-cream I’ve ever had. The gift shop did not sell bottles to go when I was there. Supposedly this is often the case. Westys can be found elsewhere but be warned that you may not be able to buy cheap Westys at In de Verde. Call first if this is important for you. The sandwiches were good enough for a snack but nothing great. But did I mention the westy ice-cream? Yes I did. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 happyhoppy (44) , France | November 17, 2012 A huge modern cafe.. Serves all the three beers and some snacks to go along. The ham and cheese (croqe - monsieur) sandwhich was delicious and do try the deserts. especially the pie made with hops and ice cream made with the beer. The place gets crowded with a mix of tourists and locals. The service is lightning speed in spite of the crowd and the cafe being so huge. They were selling the W12 x 6 + 2 Glassware for 24 euros. |
