76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 kseecs16 (194) Naperville, Illinois | May 4, 2009 Good selection, represents Michgan breweries really well and has a lot of interesting beers to choose from. Prices seemed about right. Super friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgable service. Typical liquor store decor and ambiance, but it doesn’t detract from the experience. | 98 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 19/20 beernut72 (1) Michigan | March 23, 2009 Since I moved to Michigan, this place has been a favorite of mine for a few good reasons: 1) The selection is one of the best in town. It is always changing; these guys really keep up with all the seasonal beers that many of the local and craft breweries release. 2) The staff (though I have only seen two guys work there) seem to know there stuff, if they have not had a beer they will usually tell me what other customers have said about it. 3) When I first started going to IBS the single beer selection was poor at best, over the last few months it seems that just about every beer is available in singles. Maybe because of more competition in this area, but whatever the case, it is a welcome change. The prices are very reasonable on the singles, if my calculations are correct they add about 15 to 30 cents to every single serve bottle. There is no discount for buying mix n’ match 6packs though…arrr!!, some of the other places add 15 to 20% to their single prices and then give you | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 18/20 esjaygee (236) Oak Creek, Wisconsin | March 19, 2009| Updated October 29, 2010 A nice selection of Belgians greet you when you enter the store, as does whoever happens to be working behind the counter. The younger guy (who looks like Hodgins from Bones) was very knowledgeable and hooked us up with some cheap glasses so we could drink the beer we had bought earlier in our hotel room. Nice selection of bombers and six packs both state-wide and from regional and national breweries. Singles were a rarity the first trip I made here in March of 2009, but now everything is available as a single! Yeah. Bombers were a bit spendy, but the rest was in-line with stores in the area. Probably my favorite store I visited in Grand Rapids. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 jebb12 (7) Grand Rapids, Michigan | March 5, 2009 Good selection - huge store, really nice and helpful owner. Good selection of Belgians. Would be better if there were more beers available to make your own six pack. | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 bigtaster (42) Grand Rapids, Michigan | May 3, 2008| Updated May 7, 2008 Small place packed with large selection of beer and wine. Not a very big singles selection. Staff is very informative and nice. Great place. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 Hudspart (27) Hudsonville, Michigan | August 22, 2007| Updated September 2, 2007 Great selection for West MI. Singles selection better than I thought it would be after reading below, but not as good as another store in Grand Rapids. Rishi is very helpful and enthusiastic. For some reason, all of the beer that I buy here is a little suspect. If I can find it elsewhere, I will buy it elsewhere. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 jonwayne4883 (12) Grand Rapids, Michigan | February 27, 2007| Updated September 2, 2007 this guy knows his beer. if he doesnt have it, he knows how to get it for you. first place in town i found stone, bell’s selection is almost complete. downside is lack of singles. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 mynameisjonas (5) Grand Rapids, Michigan | February 19, 2007| Updated September 2, 2007 great selection but mostly in six packs. they need a build your own section. prices are very reasonable | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 Jwasciuk (16) Lowell, Michigan | January 26, 2007| Updated September 2, 2007 Rishi very knowlageable and helpfull. Nice selection, however I would like to see more singles and build your own sixer. Prices generally higher, but sometimes lower. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 milewide (23) Grand Rapids, Michigan | July 21, 2006| Updated May 19, 2010 Fine selection. Owner, Rishi, quickly knew the local availability of ales on my "to try" list. Promotional pricing is good, but many brews, like Arrogant Bastard Ale, were $1 more than other shops.
3/18/10 rerate: Now sells singles of every beer in the store. Lots of cases of the "hot beers" on the sales floor. Be sure to check Rishi for a discount on large purchases. |
