82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 crhensel (1) New Jersey | January 28, 2012 My "local" Iron Hill. Always a pleasant experience with great food and brews. A very spacious dining area cmopared to others, but reservations are STRONGLY recommended! | 74 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 barringtonbeer (11) , | January 7, 2012 great brewery great beer | 68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 MrChopin (100) Baltimore, Maryland | December 18, 2011 More spacious than most locations due to large windows making up one wall, patio, water nearby. Service decent, restaurant near filled by lunch time on a Sunday. Bar consistent with all IH locations in having only one TV at bar. Lots of seating behind bar and restaurant area. Food exceptional as is case with all IH. Same number of taps though not the variety of Lancaster location, though IRS is here, and the bottles are best selection of any IH I’ve attended. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 BeerandBlues2 (457) Hanover, Maryland | December 10, 2011 A very large, open brewery and pub with at least two floors for brewing. The bar area is large and has access to a patio, but it is rather noisy, so this is not a good conversation spot. The pizzas were very good and priced well. They were doing a special hoppy beer promotion so there were 15 different Iron Hill beers available. The staff was friendly and attentive. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | December 6, 2011 Very convenient on the way to or from Philly, this place is in a revitalized part of town that used to be known for its shipbuilding, but then turned seedy. Looks like it cleaned up nice. Modern place, strip mall style, with visible brewing equipment. Brewer was there when I stopped by. They had 8 draft beers and two cask, plus a bunch of bottles. The few that I tried were pretty good. Food was pretty standard, tasty enough. Service was quick, efficient, friendly and well-versed in the beers. Worth a stop. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 guzzler67 (40) Hanover, Maryland | September 25, 2011 Just off I-95 in an area called the Riverfront (be careful; one wrong turn puts you in a sketchy neighborhood). Other restaurants, a museum and a minor league ballpark share the area. This Iron Hill has a large dining room, including outside seating, but the bar itself is not very big.. The atmosphere overall is pleasant. Friendly, attentive bartender that knew the beers. Beer selection was very good, including about 6 seasonals and a cask. Decent, if somewhat pricey food. Easy to recommend if you pass close by. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 RedSox2004 (16) Pacific Palisades, California | August 20, 2011 Wide selection of IH beers, the three of which I tried were very good. Service also was very good, friendly and knowledgeable. Just had appetizers, which were only mediocre. so I can’t speak for the full food menu. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 willblake (81) Bel Air, Maryland | July 2, 2011 My favorite beer selection of the Iron Hills, this spot has some of the more unique one-offs. I seem to get a tick better prepared food here, too, although the menu is the same as the other locations. Bartenders here, likely thanks to the small bar, usually seem to have a bit more time to chat and tell you about the beer. The patio outside is lovely and looks out over the river. Occasionally a pirate ship makes an appearance. Be wary of your gps’s directions, as mine sometimes puts me in the middle of some neighborhoods where I most definitely do not belong. Only a couple small tvs, but a good crowd and easy to strike up a decent conversation. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 ROGUE (38) Newark, Delaware | February 25, 2011 A very good Delaware brewpub with an every changing selection of special house brews and seasonals. Decent food at a good price. 750ml to go bottles and growlers are pricey. A little quieter and more relaxed than the Newark location. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 Slipstream (82) | March 27, 2010 A good sized brew hall in downtown Wilmington, where beer is made on the premises. They mostly serve their own stuff, which is not a problem, because IH brews up fresh, tasty ales. I think that what is on draft changes constantly, and they have brewed up a large number of styles over the years. There is even a notice board that tells you the date the beers were brewed. Servers were friendly and helpful, and the prices were good for the quality offered. The pommes frites with garlic mayonaisse was superb. Growlers are available. Drawbacks? The stuff is served a little too cold, and the take-away bottles are overpriced. The atmosphere is a little cold and the surrounding area is not exactly beautiful, but this is still a fine spot - no hophead would regret coming here. |
