For some reason I remembered this as a sports bar but actually itís not. Thereís a Giants crash helmet over the till but only two television screens. Itís modern and busy - mid evening on a Thursday it was buzzing, slightly frantic and not too studenty. The beer is dispensed from taps set in a series of stainless steel kegs and the range was pretty good. (Last visited 1 November 2012).

I mentioned to my hotel shuttle driver that I thought I was going to the best beer bar in town (Chapter House) and she said I wasnít and needed to go to the Ithaca Ale House. Well I stopped by the Chapter House first and then headed here. This place was a clean sportsbar-like atmosphere with a lot of blue collar folks minus the Cornell nerd balls. Pretty nice tap list with several Ithaca offerings along with numerous other cool taps like Chokolat and Brooklyn Monstrer. I didnít like the crowd but it had a nice tap list.

Stopped in for a pint and an appetizer on New Yearís Eve, íround two PM or so. Initially the service was brisk and almost curt, but our server opened up a bit, and never seemed short with the largely local crowd who had almost packed the place. Prices are pretty good, and about what you would find in most decent bars that arenít in NYC so to me they seemed very nice. Cool tap set up with the taps all coming out of halves of half kegs that have been mounted and incorporated into the design of the place. For 20 taps they do pretty well, catering it seems more to the non-beer geek crowd and trying to introduce them to better beer. Still for the 5 people in my immediate vicinity, all I saw were people drinking macros from bottles. I like the idea of the flights, but there were only two preset flights offered, one with Stella and Guinness in it, and the other a sort of winter themed one, again with stuff I wouldnít want. If they had a sampler where I could chose my own 5, Iíd have been quite happy. Alas I just had my one pint instead. We opted for an odd looking appetizer with guacamole and melted brie with sundried tomatoes on ciabatta bread and it was decent, but about as disconnected as I had anticipated. Still tasty though, just not a great pairing. Overall a nice place for a quick bite and some drinks.

Good food. Decent value. Tap list is solid. Bottle list is limited. Service is good. Kind of smallish place, but overall, a worthwhile visit.

Well located right next to the small touristy part of Ithaca. Medium size place, Iíd say this sits about 100 total, including the small patio in the front. This is yet another all-too-clean place that feels a bit like a sports bar. 20 beers on tap but 5 of them were macro shit. To my great surprise they didnít have a single Ithaca Brewery beer on tap?!?!? I hope that it was just a bad timing thing because that makes no sense. Nothing special beer wise, a selection of quality beer that stays with the classic (Arrogant Bastard and such) and mostly avoids the smaller micros. Limited bottle selection. Food is your typical American greasy pub food. This is the place to go in Ithaca for a family friendly pint and a quick meal. But for a real beer night out in Ithaca, Chapter House and Pixel Lounge are far superior.

I have been here a few times with my family and frankly never took the time to enter this as a place. The biggest asset to this place is that they probably have the best tap selection in the area with 20 taps, none of which are BMC. Their bottle list caters more to the BMC crowd. No problems with the service. Food is pretty much standard pub fare and is just a bit above average. No problems, but really nothing special either. If you are near the commons in Ithaca, its worth stopping in.

Located just outside the Commons area. Pretty new interior with lots of stone bricks and an exposed ceiling. Not very big, but we only stopped in for drinks and there was plenty of room at the bar. Seems like it could get crowded in a hurry. Tap list was definitely solid although the bottle selection was lacking a touch. One way or the other, they donít waste too much space on macros. Service was attentive and fairly knowledgeable. Didnít eat, but the food looked and smelled very good. It was a pretty worthwhile place

My wife and I stopped in and had some huge burgers that were marinated in various brews. She had the Stout burger, I the Bastard burger. They were large, cooked to our liking, and included sides. Very tasty, although somewhat pricey. The twenty taps offered some great, standard micros and a few new ones, at least for me. Check their web site to gain an appreciation of the variety. Service was fantastic, in spite of the place getting very busy. Stefanie was very friendly, attentive, and courteous. George the bartender was also very friendly, knowledgeable in the micro arena and helpful. Absolutely no complaints in this regard. The clientele consists of Cornell University students, professors, locals and tourists. Very friendly crowd in a comfortable, cozy atmosphere.
