The taproom out front is pretty straightforward - the Dirty Water was the one beer here not available at the uptown brewpub, and it alone is tasty enough to warrant a special trip here. But then Brad gave us a tour of the brewery, complete with a well-spent hour in the barrel room with a pair of pliers and some tasting glasses, waxing poetic about the barrel program. Not sure of he does this outside the anniversary festivities, but Brad made us feel very special indeed, after what must have been quite the long and laborious day for him. What a pleasure! And the icing on the cake was the 2009 Cascade sour pulled from the depths of the brewery. Thanks guys, and happy 8th anniversary!

Compared to the brewpub/public house the tap room is a very low key affair with only six taps. There was a guy selling locally sourced chili and sliders that night for a fair price if you wanted some food to go with the beers. At $5.00 a pour the prices were reasonable for generous servings.
The only weakness might be trying to locate the place. The street is easy to miss but once inside it has a nice feel. I’d come back again if there was a special release as it is much closer to all the hotels at the edge of town. That said there’s no reason if you can only visit one to not make it the original brewery.

(Visited 06/2013 during Ohio Brew Week): Jackie O’s newer production brewery/tasting room location is off-campus on Campbell Street off Stimson. There is a parking lot next to the building.
The entrance is toward the rear of the barn/silo building. The interior opens immediately to a small tasting room with a bar on the left side, and a few tables opposite. The brewery is visible through windows. Shirts for sale hanging on the wall, and flowers on the tables.
The beer selection consists of 8 taps, most of which I would consider flagship beers like Firefly, Chomo-Lung-Ma, Mystic Mama, Oil of Aphrodite and Dark Apparition. Samplers are available on pretty Ohio-shaped wooden trays.
Service on a slow weekday was good. I recognized the bartender from the brewpub and he knows his stuff.
Food is not available at this location.
Overall this is a nice spot to visit. Different look and feel than the brewpub and a smaller selection, despite that the place has a great character and I would definitely visit again.
