Stopped in before heading to RBSG 2014 the next day. Brewpub side was closed until 9 PM for a private party so I only got to hang out in the Public House. Nice variety of house drafts. Only saw one guest tap which was Guinness. Stuck to doing flights which you can order up to 8 at a time. They were serving food in the Public House so maybe they made an exception with the Brewpub closed. Food was good, had the fried cheese curds and a pizza. Service was friendly but a bit slow at times. Easy walk to and from the Ohio University Inn. Enjoyed the visit and look forward to going back next time I’m in the area.

Ive been a regular at this bar for several years now while I’ve been in school here in good ole’ Athens. Good company, one of the few bars in Athens that pulls a very diverse crowd. Has the Irish pub feel with plenty of space and a patio that’s great in the summer. Always has good live music too! Hands down, probably the best all around menu (food and Bev) in Athens. (Highly recommend the fried fish and pizzas) service is always great at the bar, usually great at tables too. Also one of the few bars that always has steady crowds, even in the summer when the university is on summer break

Stopped by a few nights in a row with gorditoabd during a trip to Ohio U for some work stuff. The place is a fairly loud college bar scene that dies down a bit in the summer. Selection was great, service was excellent and food was so-so. Not bad, not great.

Been to this establishment many times. I went to college in Athens, and although Jackie O’s was not around at that time (yes, I am old), I make it a point to visit as much as often, just to go here! Anytime I am in town, Ohio Brew Week, football game, basketball game, visit friends, this is a must stop. Pizza is made with spent grain, meat is organic, from local sources, and what else can you say about the beer. Usually a couple of great guest taps as well. Highly recommend!

Went to the 8th anniversary release. I’ve been here a few times and I have enjoyed my journeys to Jackie O’s. I am always impressed with their tap list. The food is good, I liked how the kitchen was serving breakfast before a bottle release. The prices are fair and within reason. The staff is usually very friendly and attentive but on the release it was pretty poor. I know I should not judge that based on a beer release but considering I was sitting at the "bar" its a tad unpleasing. I did enjoy the beers a lot and the vibe of the place is very inviting, beautiful wood work all around. Nonetheless I recommend going to Jackie O’s, its a great place.

Jackie O’s is split into two places within the nearly same physical address. One entrance is the brewpub and the other is the public house. The taps are different, though you can carry your beverages from one to the other, out the back door, up the stairs, across the patio, and down the stairs. Food is served only in the brewpub, though the staff on both sides are quite attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. This is the kind of place every college town needs. The food is quite good is these quaint halls.

Came here for the 8th anniversary special, an exceptionally well-organized and gentlemanly affair. I love the concept of waiting inside at the bar enjoying breakfast and a flight of beer while waiting for your number to be called - this kept the outdoor standing-in-line o an absolute minimum. The range and number of beers available was phenomenal, anniversary or not. The staff were friendly and efficient throughout, even though they must have prepped through the wee hours to pull this off. Food was tasty enough that we ate here twice. It took us a while to figure out that you can order beers in the brewpub side and carry them around back to the main bar, just so you don’t miss any key happenings. Highly recommended at any time, but the events are something else.

Despite the crowds the services at the public house was generally solid. With 30+ beers on tap you will have no problem locating something to tick. I do not know if the sample sizes are offered all the time but if so it is an even better way to experience the full range of Jackie O’s beers.
Full pints were fairly priced as well. Given the huge range I can only hope that they continue to expand around Ohio beyond the few that are already in cans. If you only have room in your schedule for a single stop make it this place despite the tricky parking situation.

I came here for the first time for the summer 2013 release of four sours. The place is right in downtown Athens, a cool, brick-and-stone college town that feels historic and fun. Lined up a little before 9, and the doors opened shortly after 9. We had no trouble getting a table. The brewpub on the left is beer-only, 18 taps. The public house side is full menu, full bar, 20 taps. Not much crossover, either. Holy cow. Never been to a brewpub/tap room with so many house beers. Service was quick, friendly, and he came over to us all day. I LOVE that they don’t make you wait in line outside all day for your number to be called for a release; they sit you down, serve you- everyone wins. The people are so nice here. Really accommodating and cool. Happy to pour samplers. Food is solid; I had both breakfast and lunch. Bottle prices are on the high end but drafts and samples are well-priced. I can’t wait to come back here for future visits. I’ll find any excuse.

This place seems like a typical bullet proof varnished wood college bar when you walk in. But looks are deceiving. The food is fancy pub grub. My pesto something sandwich was very nice. The beers are something else altogether. It is worth the drive for the Dark Apparition. When I was there they had some huge single hops on, with lots of others that I did not sample. Athens Ohio is not an easy place to get to, but it is worth the detour from Columbus to drink the beer.
