For a place in Athens (a college town) you canít ask for a better atmosphere to sit and enjoy a few drink, good food, and conversation with friends. They have darts, a table shuffle-board, and patio. If youíre just in town to visit or what have you then this place is a must. Also, they are their own brewery. So, many of the beers they have on tap are their own and almost every one is a good choice.

Great freindly place with a excellent selection of their own beers and good selection of guest beers. Good food with large portions. Well worth a visit.

Awesome must visit brewpub in Athens and by far my favorite brewpub that Iíve visited. Great beers, but you probably knew that already. The food is also excellent. High quality pub food with some flair. The pricing of beers is quite low for the quality offered. The atmosphere is pretty much your dream pub when you were in college - it is a college town after all.

I finally made it back to Jackie Oís yesterday. There have been a lot of changes since my last visit there 4 1/2 years ago, the big one being they have since bought the pub next door so they now have a brewery side and a pub side, with both having different beers on tap. Since I only had an appetizer there I canít say much about the food, but the other people there who were eating around me seemed to enjoy what they had, so Iíll assume the food is all pretty good like my appetizer was. The service was great, and itís a cool environment there just to hang out, chill and have some beer. After a couple brews and some samples on the pub side, I went over to the brewery side and talked with Brad for a few minutes (who was nice enough to take a few minutes out of his day to talk about beer with me), and had more samples of different brews, including 6 different versions of their Dark Apparition stout, all of which were excellent. The beer there is just flat out incredible. Everything I tried was great, and I canít think of any other places that have as many barrel aged beers on tap as Jackie Oís does. I could have spent all day there, and I might have to make a trip back down there soon just to do that. If youíre in the area (or even if youíre not), itís definitely worth it to make the trip. Iíll have to come back to Jackie Oís more often, thatís for sure!

The bar is in the middle of Ohio University action - so there was plenty of eye candy to start off the great ambiance. The bar was lit up just right, no too dark but dark enough with a cool wrap around bar on one side and barrels that were used for tables - awesome. My first trip to Jackie Oís was less than a week after one of their bottle release extravaganzas - so their tap list was PHENOMENAL. 7 Different Oil of Aphrodites amongst many other gems!!! The flight option allows you to try so many special taps. It is so great that many of their brews are rife with fresh local ingredients. They advertise it as well helping to contribute to a sustainable community like those cool places in Vermont do. The bartenders (all of them), and the brewers were not only beyond nice, but super generous and welcoming to out of town beer geeks. I only regret that we didnít get to try the food. Canít wait to see you boys again!

I came here for the first time for the summer 2013 release of four sours. The place is right in downtown Athens, a cool, brick-and-stone college town that feels historic and fun. Lined up a little before 9, and the doors opened shortly after 9. We had no trouble getting a table. The brewpub on the left is beer-only, 18 taps. The public house side is full menu, full bar, 20 taps. Not much crossover, either. Holy cow. Never been to a brewpub/tap room with so many house beers. Service was quick, friendly, and he came over to us all day. I LOVE that they donít make you wait in line outside all day for your number to be called for a release; they sit you down, serve you- everyone wins. The people are so nice here. Really accommodating and cool. Happy to pour samplers. Food is solid; I had both breakfast and lunch. Bottle prices are on the high end but drafts and samples are well-priced. I canít wait to come back here for future visits. Iíll find any excuse.

Came here for the 8th anniversary special, an exceptionally well-organized and gentlemanly affair. I love the concept of waiting inside at the bar enjoying breakfast and a flight of beer while waiting for your number to be called - this kept the outdoor standing-in-line o an absolute minimum. The range and number of beers available was phenomenal, anniversary or not. The staff were friendly and efficient throughout, even though they must have prepped through the wee hours to pull this off. Food was tasty enough that we ate here twice. It took us a while to figure out that you can order beers in the brewpub side and carry them around back to the main bar, just so you donít miss any key happenings. Highly recommended at any time, but the events are something else.

Been here a bunch of times. Unfortunately is was not Jackie Oís when I went to OU, but it is a great spot to hit when I visit my Alma Mater. I prefer the brewery side to the public house, but both are nice. Always have great service, the food is good to pretty good and the beers are excellent. A bit out of the way in Ohio, but it is definitely worth the stop if you are anywhere near.

I freaking love this place. Ambiance is two fold. The publick house side, is a nice long wooden bar with tons of tables to drink and a nice stage up front. Brewery side is a lot more eclectic and homey, with big barrels for tables and lots of wodden carvings, but can get a little cramped. Service has always been pretty good and friendly everytime i;ve gone. Selection is amazing. At least 30 of their own beers on tap at once. who can beat that. Any breakfast or lunch ive ever had here was pretty damn good as well. Food and beer on tap is pretty cheap, especially since you can get decent samples of anythingfor $1-2. Overall worth the stop if anywhere near athens.

I went here on the fifth anniversary celebration around lunch time and was shocked to find that it was not all that busy. I walked right in and picked a seat at the bar right in front of the beer taps. Within a short amount of time I had a lengthy tap menu placed in front of me and a snifter of delicious beer in my hand. The bartender was very knowledgeable about their beer and friendly to boot. The pizza I ordered came out pretty fast and was delicious. They have the normal pub foods but all of them seem to have a gourmet touch to them. Parking would be difficult if you didnít know your way around town, but Athens is not an intimidating town so that should not be a big deal. If a person ever finds themselves in Athens and passes this place up, they are crazy.
