100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 steelhead3686 (9) Athens, Ohio | November 10, 2010 For a place in Athens (a college town) you can’t ask for a better atmosphere to sit and enjoy a few drink, good food, and conversation with friends. They have darts, a table shuffle-board, and patio. If you’re just in town to visit or what have you then this place is a must. Also, they are their own brewery. So, many of the beers they have on tap are their own and almost every one is a good choice. | 98 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 bluejacket74 (5) Reynoldsburg, Ohio | December 31, 2010 I finally made it back to Jackie O’s yesterday. There have been a lot of changes since my last visit there 4 1/2 years ago, the big one being they have since bought the pub next door so they now have a brewery side and a pub side, with both having different beers on tap. Since I only had an appetizer there I can’t say much about the food, but the other people there who were eating around me seemed to enjoy what they had, so I’ll assume the food is all pretty good like my appetizer was. The service was great, and it’s a cool environment there just to hang out, chill and have some beer. After a couple brews and some samples on the pub side, I went over to the brewery side and talked with Brad for a few minutes (who was nice enough to take a few minutes out of his day to talk about beer with me), and had more samples of different brews, including 6 different versions of their Dark Apparition stout, all of which were excellent. The beer there is just flat out incredible. Everything I tried was great, and I can’t think of any other places that have as many barrel aged beers on tap as Jackie O’s does. I could have spent all day there, and I might have to make a trip back down there soon just to do that. If you’re in the area (or even if you’re not), it’s definitely worth it to make the trip. I’ll have to come back to Jackie O’s more often, that’s for sure! | 98 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 Damico (13) Royersford, Pennsylvania | September 2, 2011 The bar is in the middle of Ohio University action - so there was plenty of eye candy to start off the great ambiance. The bar was lit up just right, no too dark but dark enough with a cool wrap around bar on one side and barrels that were used for tables - awesome. My first trip to Jackie O’s was less than a week after one of their bottle release extravaganzas - so their tap list was PHENOMENAL. 7 Different Oil of Aphrodites amongst many other gems!!! The flight option allows you to try so many special taps. It is so great that many of their brews are rife with fresh local ingredients. They advertise it as well helping to contribute to a sustainable community like those cool places in Vermont do. The bartenders (all of them), and the brewers were not only beyond nice, but super generous and welcoming to out of town beer geeks. I only regret that we didn’t get to try the food. Can’t wait to see you boys again! | 98 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 jtclockwork (28) , New Jersey | August 18, 2011 Awesome must visit brewpub in Athens and by far my favorite brewpub that I’ve visited. Great beers, but you probably knew that already. The food is also excellent. High quality pub food with some flair. The pricing of beers is quite low for the quality offered. The atmosphere is pretty much your dream pub when you were in college - it is a college town after all. | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 Tmoney99 (366) Cincinnati, Ohio | December 18, 2011 Great freindly place with a excellent selection of their own beers and good selection of guest beers. Good food with large portions. Well worth a visit.
| 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 alexsdad06 (14) Ohio | June 30, 2012 I have been to Jackie O’s many times. Brad, Art and the staff always do a great job whether you go mid week or during a bottle release. There are always interesting beers on tap and the food is a definite plus. The pizzas and burgers are great. I wish this was closer to home so I could visit more often. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 deyholla (200) Oklahoma City, Oklahoma | July 3, 2012 Don’t know how I haven’t rated this place yet. This is one of the best breweries around to visit. Brad the brewer has been nice enough to take time to talk to me during each of my visits. The staff has always been friend but it can be a tad slow during busy times. There are always a ton of Jackie O’s taps plus a good selection of guest taps. Food is solid if not great and prices are quite competitive. An absolute must visit! | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 Cliff (50) Avon Lake, Ohio | November 7, 2012 Been here a bunch of times. Unfortunately is was not Jackie O’s when I went to OU, but it is a great spot to hit when I visit my Alma Mater. I prefer the brewery side to the public house, but both are nice. Always have great service, the food is good to pretty good and the beers are excellent. A bit out of the way in Ohio, but it is definitely worth the stop if you are anywhere near. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Beerman6686 (92) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | November 5, 2012 I freaking love this place. Ambiance is two fold. The publick house side, is a nice long wooden bar with tons of tables to drink and a nice stage up front. Brewery side is a lot more eclectic and homey, with big barrels for tables and lots of wodden carvings, but can get a little cramped. Service has always been pretty good and friendly everytime i;ve gone. Selection is amazing. At least 30 of their own beers on tap at once. who can beat that. Any breakfast or lunch ive ever had here was pretty damn good as well. Food and beer on tap is pretty cheap, especially since you can get decent samples of anythingfor $1-2. Overall worth the stop if anywhere near athens. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 JStax (72) Devola/Marietta, Ohio | December 4, 2010| Updated April 4, 2012 I went here on the fifth anniversary celebration around lunch time and was shocked to find that it was not all that busy. I walked right in and picked a seat at the bar right in front of the beer taps. Within a short amount of time I had a lengthy tap menu placed in front of me and a snifter of delicious beer in my hand. The bartender was very knowledgeable about their beer and friendly to boot. The pizza I ordered came out pretty fast and was delicious. They have the normal pub foods but all of them seem to have a gourmet touch to them. Parking would be difficult if you didn’t know your way around town, but Athens is not an intimidating town so that should not be a big deal. If a person ever finds themselves in Athens and passes this place up, they are crazy. |
