70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 2/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 10/20 BlackHaddock (233) , England | May 28, 2013 The first bar my wife and I hit on arriving in San Fran (3rd Feb 2013): it was Super Bowl and the 49ers were to blow the whole thing later in the day.
Plastic glasses were all that was allowed in this semi-sports bar, as they were expecting a larger than usual custom for the game.
Small bar to your left as you walk in the front with a larger almost hidden bar to the right a few steps in. Think Dr Who and the ’Tardis’, this joint is a whole lot bigger inside than it appears from outside. Wood paneling, ornate ceiling and various styles of tables and chairs.
Staff friendly and helpful to a visiting Brit and his wife: good selection (to me anyway) but the burgers were terrible! | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Clembo1957 (44) Smethwick, England | April 24, 2013 Very touristy as you’d expect given it’s location on Fisherman’s wharf. Long line of taps behind the length if the bar with some reasonable beers. Service can be a bit hit and miss and it’s pay at the bar | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 prawlie (41) , England | March 20, 2013 Nice bar with 68 taps close to the bay. Service was decent and friendly, decent but not amazing selection. | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20 adamjackson (112) Canaan, New Hampshire | February 21, 2013 VERY TOURISTY. Nothing but tourists here BUT their selection is outstanding. I always wrote this place off but went with friends visiting from out of town and was pleasantly surprised. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Ober (57) Bommelerwaard, Netherlands | June 25, 2012 A big bar with a very nice beery interior. A lot of plates on the walls, from all over he world. A lot op taps and bottles. The staff was friendly, but I thought they know much about beer. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 16/20 OldGrowth (139) North Carolina | May 3, 2012 Long bar, 15 or so people, plenty more.tables, inside and.out. lots of wood, kind of.dark inside, lots of.kitch on the walls. Solid.tap list. Nice mix.of things, from lagers to ipa to stouts. Something for all. Good place to hit when doing the touristy thing, | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 bierwabbe (15) , Belgium | August 1, 2011 Came in here drawn by the promise of 68 taps -- and they didn’t disappoint. Lots of west coast and local, and east coasters too. Best way to go is with a couple of beer flights, most bang for your buck. Not super busy, pretty quiet. If you happen to love old cars, the owner has a thing for Studebakers, had old ads and such on rotation on a couple of video screens. Different and cozy. If you’re in Fisherman’s Wharf, this is a good visit. After, say, Ripley’s Believe-It-Or-Not! Museum. | 60 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 ben4321 (165) Hoboken, New Jersey | May 11, 2011 This is an interesting little spot. Stopped in here for a bite to eat and a beer when walking around the Fisherman’s Warf area, and the place was dead. Granted, it was lunch time, but still, very empty. Litterally, I was the only person sitting at the bar. Selection was decent, though only maybe 5-10 beers max that you can’t get back east. I wouldn’t rush back, but worth a stop in... | 74 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 EdKing (101) London, England | March 5, 2011 Good downstairs bar just below the Ghirardelli chocolate museum. Big plus point is a long line up of craft beers on tap and a nice range from Anchor. Service is very attentive and knowledgable. Drank pint of Achor Steam and a glass of Old Foghorn.
Area is busier during the day so not exactly buzzing at night. More of a tourist area but still worth a visit during the day, especially if you are staying in Fisherman’s Wharf area. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 cbeers21 (35) Miami, Florida | July 6, 2010 Nice location along the water next to the Maritime National Park and close to fishermans wharf. Standard bar, with about 60 + taps although they were out of a few. I went during the day and it seemed pretty low key although I imagine it could get crazy later. For example they are quite proud of their "typical macro (pbr/high life) 5 for 5$" signs which was an initial turn-off but upon closer inspection they had some quality brews going on, although nothing truly noteworthy. Had your standard macros but also had some hidden gems at reasonable prices. Service was pretty prompt and friendly. Seem to have some food bargains but I didn’t get anything to eat. Worth a mid-day quench if you are walking about in the area. Cash only by the way |
