The brewery & tasting room are only open to the public on Saturdays between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm - check their website for details. Gorgeous old stone barn brewery/tap room had some of the mainstay brews on draft, and a small tent outdoors poured rare smaller tasters. Country band played most of the afternoon. So glad I got to visit this place. A bit of the French/Belgian countryside in the heart of Texas. | 98 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 phaleslu (314) Cincinnati, Ohio | December 8, 2012 Drove out here with my wife on a Saturday afternoon, the only time it’s open. Good gravy, am I glad I found that out before hitting town and that our timing worked out. It’s basically rural, with the brewery on a hill at the end of a gravel road off Fitzhugh Rd. The brewery has a tasting room and the main operation with a cellar underneath. There are bathrooms in an Airstream trailer down the drive and a big pavilion with picnic tables. Many other tables are closer to the tasting room under trees. Another pavilion has a pizza oven and they sell bottles (got around a stupid state law!) but I’m an idiot and let two bottles I wanted sell out - learn from me, buy any bottles you want first. They give you a glass when you arrive for $10. It includes a tasting menu with the day’s offerings in the tasting room and at the tent outside where they pour from bottles. Nice glass, too! 10 options; 5 JK taps, 1 guest, and 4 bottle pours. You get 1 of each. Great deal. Staff was super friendly and cool. Answered all my annoying beer geek questions. We didn’t do the tour, of which there are three during the day. We just relaxed and drank our samples. The beer is world-class. The place can’t be any more relaxed, friendly, and fun. Maybe my favorite beer place to date. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 dresden (40) Saskatchewan | November 4, 2012 This place is so awesome. Terrific laid back ambience, super nice staff, very generous pours of 6 beer for $10 and a free glass that they charge $7 for. A handful of picnic tables and a nice short tour of the facility. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 jhamp9 (24) Corinth, Texas | July 22, 2012 Really nice setting, staff are very friendly, get to sample everything they have. Good times. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 mar (65) Dallas, Texas | July 6, 2012 out in the middle of nowhere, good place for their one offs, enjoyed my night there. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Mora2000 (74) McKinney, Texas | July 1, 2012 Went here last year for their grand opening party but never did a formal review. A nice brewery located on a cattle farm in the hill country outside of Austin. Great beers and a very friendly staff. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 Beerenberger (23) Fischer, Texas | May 26, 2012| Updated February 23, 2013 This is a great place to go on a Saturday afternoon in Texas Hill Country. Located on several acres in Austin it screams farmhouse ale brewing and this brewery lives up to that expectation. Great beer, great location, great music, and fun Austin people. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Terminus (278) Las Cruces, New Mexico | April 7, 2012| Updated February 23, 2013 This could be my favorate brewery setting in the country. Minus the live-fire gun range next door, this place is amazing! great staff that are ever so friendly (and love metal!), great setting for a farmhouse brewery and just a lovely saturday afternoon having some great beers for a very good price. There needs to be more places like this around the country. Everytime im in this area on a saturday, i will definately go back! |
