Small basement bar in the East Village. Small, but quality tap selection. Bottle prices varied from high to insane. Worth a visit but I’d probably check to see what was on tap before going out of my way.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. The crowd was mixed between beer folks, and St Patrick’s Day spill over from nearby McSorleys. Led to a bunch of interesting interactions. This is a really cool, basement room, with a small bar up front, a few bar tables, and a back room that has more tables. Very much a cellar feeling, with a ton of character. The draft list was 12 beers, with all of them unique and well chosen. Bottle list was a bit less impressive, though between the two, there was something for everyone. Bartender was super helpful, very nice and welcoming, made me feel right at home. I ended up spending 3-4 hours at this place, and had a really great time.

some kind of basement beer bar in the east village. decent tap list. here on a friday night with puzzl, max and a slew of other humans and managed to get a table without much strife. enjoyed the imperial sized eurotrash pils. fine.

Saturday (2/16) night visit: Was very crowded, but we managed to find a table as soon as we walked in. Loved the ambiance of this cozy cellar dwelling. Nice wood and decor with dim lighting. Service was very attentive and friendly. The tap list was not huge, but was very interesting and unique supporting local brews that I didn’t see anywhere else in NYC. We didn’t order any food, but the menu looked good. A great craft beer experience!

Great atomosphere at the cozy basement dwelling. A nice selection and great events. Jimmy does a great job rotating the beers. A little pricy, but worth a visit.

Very nice cozy cellar. Good beer list (especially the beers on draft I liked a lot) and excellent service.

Jimmy’s is one of the more venerable and important beer spots in NYC despite its size and relatively short list. The establishment and Jimmy is an educator and champion of good beer in NYC and has been for a long time through this bar and other efforts (Beer Sessions radio show from Roberta’s, the Good Beer Seal program, etc.). The place is a perfect match for the quality beer they serve. Warm, inviting, not pretentious, reasonably priced (for imperial pints and food in NYC at least). The one time I’ve had the food it was really tasty. The beer list is unique, personal and classic; better than a catalog in my opinion. They get stuff most others won’t. They even have a few aged bottles on the list! The bartender was great and Jimmy was sitting next to me last night. He’s a blast to talk to about beer!

Cozy little basement pub with a short but well put together tap list. Service is usually prompt and friendly, but it can get a bit bust on weekend nights (as New York bars are wont to do). This place always seems to get some random off the wall one off that the other NYC bars don’t get, and even past that they always have something good and interesting on.
