Our final stop in the area was Johnny Brenda’s. Heard a lot of good things about this place so I was looking forward to checking it out. We got seated in the corner downstairs at a large table. Draft and Food menu right above our table. Place was pretty dead but it was a sunday. Pretty good draft list but nothing over the top. Service was decent, he came around enough I guess. I decided to go with the grilled caesar salad and two cheddar biscuits on the side. Salad was ok, could have skipped the whole deconstructed thing and just given me a real salad, but the biscuits were even better. Overall a place I will definitely return to at some point. I am really looking forward to checking out the other areas this place has to offer.

Decent selection of local beers, and some pretty good food and service.

Good food and service. People have been killing the selection but they have a lot of taps. They only serve local, if you don’t want that go elsewhere. They get a great selection of locals that are always rotating. Upstairs is a small music venue that is a great place to see a small band.

Great dark ambiance, long bar, pool table. Pretty big place. Menus both food & beer are on chalkboard placed around the bar. Big concert venue upstairs. Pennsylvania area brewers only. Nice place. Reminds me a bit of Zeitgeist in San Francisco

I was there a while ago so this might be out of date but it was a good beer bar. Nice selection of craft brews that were priced right.

First time there last night but hopefully not the last. Very dark inside and has an oldworld pub feel to it. The menu changes daily depending on what they can source locally and is only written on a chalk board. I had a falafel with hummus which was wonderful. Nice selection of local breweries on tap along with two cask selections. Nugget Nectar on cask! The waitress was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable about the beers. food prices were excellent and beers were about average. Really liked it there.

NIce old throwback kind of bar with lots of character from the decor to the tables and walls/moldings (clean bathrooms) .... pool table long windy bar and some table and booth seating ... service was quick the waitress was friendly too .... the selection was all local and had a nice mix of breweries/styles offerings from victory, yards, philly, manayunk, stoudts and sly fox were on tap ... The food was great had the bbq pulled pork sandwich which was tasty had a nice fresh bun came with good fries, clams were decent ..... value was 5-6 depending on the beer and sandwiches were around 10-15 .... they have a venue with all kinds of bands playing so check out the website to see the lineup .... would definitely regular this place

I went on a Friday night; the place was full, but not packed. I sat in a corner, so I didn’t really look at other people very much. Food was quite good; the French Fries and the sauce were pretty addictive. Falafel was also pretty legit. Beer selection was quite good. Everything was tap stuff from Philadelphia area breweries, which is cool because it really brought out some more obscure beers by noted brewers (Victory’s Mad King Weiss for example). Plus, they had casks, which were a really good call for the Bitter I had. The prices were fairly standard ($5 per beer). I enjoyed it. Waitress was nice and seemed to know a thing or two about beer. i think that they also have bands play there sometimes.

I only had one beer here but looked like they had a good selection. 6 or more cask beers! Nice! I dont know if that is the usuall or just philly beer week special. Couple regular taps. Lots of space to hang out. I will be back

In the past few years when in Fishtown I wind up @ Johnny Brenda’s. Usually not during hipster doofus prime time hours. This bar is an oldie in the neighborhood with a fresh upgrade a new kitchen. You can still see the old shot and a beer bar’s bones if you look closely. Johnny Brenda’s now serves a good mix of local beers on draft and eclectic food menu. Prices are reasonable and service is good. Sometimes there is music upstairs and sometimes beer events downstairs. Years ago the closest bar was Fishtown Tavern now there are a few new hip bars in walking distance. An enjoyable Philadelphia neighborhood bar.
