I visited the brewery 7/1. Ron and his wife were on hand doing some things around the brewery. Very small place but look at all those oak barrels-nice sight for shure! Had the stout which is only available at the brewery along with a new batch of the laRoja grand reserve. Ron and his wife were very friendly and helped me plan the rest of my trip through MI. Thanks for the hospitality!
Jolly Pumpkin Rules. I wished I had gotten to the brewery, but it was just nice to see the hallowed grounds. It was cool to see pallets of beer labeled for delivery to places across the world (Denmark, Portland, etc.). Nice to have fresh Bam Biere on tap at the brewery. Decent, but not particularly accessible.
Small brewery. No tasting on premises. The owner is cordial and friendly. Only had 4 beers available out of his stable of 6 brews. I guess the other 2 are seasonals. Buying the beers at the brewery will save you $1-2 over liquor stores and if you are in Ann Arbor, it is a short and pretty drive. Brewery is immaculately clean.

Extremely quaint! Think Alesmith, then multiply by 70% or Floydís and multiply by 40%. Iíve never experienced a brewery like this one. Hard to find, but so worth it. Walked in and BAM!, the first thing to hit me was the absence of all the usual steel and copper. Havenít seen this much wood since accidentally renting gay porn in 1996. Very impressive and unique. Ronís wife could not have been more accommodating to MI2CA and me. We sampled everything, including a taste of their "One Hopped Up Bug." Thoroughly enjoyed myself and picked up a couple bottles of Firefly Grande Reserve and Perseguidor.
did not eat but menu looked ok little pricy. and the selection was a lot smaller then i thought it would be. the building is cool did not go upstairs though

Get this on your to do list. They moved the brewery to a new facility where they had no retail space, just a production facility. In the fall of 2014 they opened a tap room under a new name- nl (null) taphouse, itís in the industrial park ala Three Floydís. They have the Funkmasterís beers, also North Peak as well as Michigan based wine and spiirits. Major drinking destination. I highly recommend it.
Ron Jeffries was doing sour beers before it was cool. Heís one of the best brewers in the US IMO. Having had his beers before he went to the funk (Grizzley peak,Bonfire) it is clear this guy can brew any beer he wants.

Really what you have is a counter with a register and a refrigerator with JP beer at the front of the brewery. The brewery seemed spotless and organized. The brewers were happy to talk shop and welcoming. Not sure if they have more to offer since I was there.
Not far from Ann Arbor and tucking into downtown Dexter. Donít get directions from Map Quest, they are wrong, take Baker Rd to Forest Street. Had a nice time talking beer with Ron and checking out the facility. Make sure you bring your cash or check as they donít take credit cards yet. Cash and carry only. May open a small sit down later this year. New place and shows alot of promise.
If you are ever in the area of Dexter, you have to stop by Jolly Pumpkin. I stopped by on a day they were closed and managed to still pick up some beers. This place is just a brewery, so not food is available. The place is spotless. The Maracaibo Especial is only available at the brewery for now and the Luciernaga is long sold out. Remember to pick up some GABF Gold meadl winning Oro de Calabaza. Ron is a great guy and a pleasure to talk to.
Loved it. Very quaint place and somewhat obscure. Ron stayed open for me and my family to arrive since we were running way late, and then he gave us a tour of the place. Wonderful facility - really cool to see all of the oak barrels there, and you can tell how much care and attention goes into creating these farmhouse ales. Bottles were $2 cheaper here than they are in the stores, and I was able to grab a cool Jolly Pumpkin shirt. I will routinely make visits at every opportunity I can.
