Unique combination of Belgian beers, Tex-Mex and large tequilla selection in Center City. Relaxing 1st Floor bar has a nice view of the 15th Street sidewalk bustle. Jose Pistolas can very well stand on its own but with Latimer Deli, McGlinchey’s on the same block, plus Monk’s & Locust Rendevous around the corner there’s no reason not to visit.
Great place around the corner from Monk’s. Went on a Sat for dinner and there was seating available .... two floors with a bar on each floor ... typical city bar brick walls, high ceilings etc ... service was great our server knew her stuff and everything was served in proper glassware .... selections on draft were small, but well rounded and they had espresso stone irs which was a huge bonus, the bottle list is pretty extensive and has a lot of variety .... food wise was mexican themed and delicious ... the quesadilla I had had amazing flavoring .... the value was great for this area of the city ... overall I would come here any day of the week for mexican over the chain stuff that I have in my area .... definitely a winner to me
Stopped in here last weekend for some lunch while the Deschutes event was going on. My first time here, I have heard such great things about the place I was really looking forward to checking it out.
Bar itself is all split up with tables and chairs and stairs all over the place. Plenty of people milling around enjoying beers. TV’s hanging on the walls offer some distraction from all of the loud tables around us. Service was pretty good. The bartender came to service our table since the server was nowhere to be found. Once he took all of our orders the server turned up and they combined to keep a close eye on us the rest of our stay.
Quality seemed to be high. All of our food was top notch and all of our beers were served in the proper glassware. Selection was pretty good. Taps were a wide verity of offerings from all over the place. They were offering 5 Deschutes beers on-tap but you had to order their brunch, which was kinda dumb considering they were just the standard offerings and nothing rare. I went with an Oxbow they had on tap but we also shared a Black Butte XXIV. For food we shared a plate of excellent nacho’s and I went with the short rib taco’s which were very tasty. Prices on the food were quite reasonable and they drafts weren’t too bad either, the bottles were pretty steep tho.
Overall an awesome little beer bar in the heart of the city. I would return just to eat, the beer is just a bonus.
Definitely one of my favourite bars in Philadelphia. Good variety including many local breweries and cask ale. All in good nick. Brilliant service from a cool barman. My request if they sold half pints was they normally just do it for strong beers, but if that is what I wanted that is what I will get, excellent customer service. I proceeded to enjoy 7 or 8 halves. If it was pints only I may have left after 2 or 3. Nice to hear some heavy rock in a beer bar for a change too!
Awesome little spot a couple blocks from monks. No trouble sitting down here! Great taco/burrito menu...price is right and the tastes is delectable. Very nice taps!! Price is right for the city and the vibe and service are on point. Im headed back!
Have drank here a few times, most recently on 24/05/12. 2 floord, dark and fairly dimly lit downstairs. Chatting to the bartender who also soourced the beers, knew his stuff and gave us reccomendations for a few new places to try out. Good selection of lagely east coast brews - definately more than 8 taps, maybe a dozen to 15? Have had snacks here before, good Mexican nibbles, nachos, empenadas etc. A must stop on my Philly pub crawls.
Founders event for beer week. Crazy crowed but bartenders did a good job of getting people beer. The place iis small and tri level. rick walls and wood floor. bar onthe left by the entrance. small stair case up to the tables with another stair case to the third floor. KBS and CBS, Better half. nice event but this place is not a great bar space
Multi-floor bar in Center City. Always a good selection of beers on tap- from locals to nationals and imports, too. My lady likes that they usually have a framboise or cider on tap. Mexican themed food. The burrito is big and tasty. The barkeepers have always been attentive and friendly. Not a place I frequent because it’s not an area of town I get to all that often. But, when I’m in the area I always stop in for a pint.
I started the craft beer express tour here. Right in center city... Small place with a bar upstairs and downstairs. Nice selection of craft beers on tap. (not sure what they have on during a normal day) I had a cask beer, quite tasty. I didnt eat. Overall decent litlte place to snag a beer. Server was into beer and was knew his stuff.
