This is an high end gourmet store which also stocks some beer. This is probably as good as it comes in Vienna for buying bottled beer. I would hold the temptation to buy beer as the prices are outrages and just try as much as you can around the city.

A fantastic gourmet food store with around 100+ beers. As others have expressed the prices can be steep, but it depends. A bottle of Samichlaus will run you just as much as the next bottle shop, but a bottle of Schneider tapx was 15 euros, where as I got the same one for 9 at another. Go there for great food, chocolate, cold cuts, and grab a beer while you’re there. Love the place, even if the beer is not the focal point.

Huge upscale food store right in the city center. Some interesting bottles on the shelves, Austrian craft as well as some good imports. Not cheap. Also good place for coffee after shopping in the nearby Chanel store.

Supermarket in city center. Picked up some Gusswerk beers. Not bad if you’re passing by and considering the fact there seems to be no specialty beer stores in the city centre.

Of the two supermarkets that are of interest to get beers (the other being Merkur Hoher Markt), this one definitly has the more interesting beer selection. Of course its also way pricier than the other one. If you are nearby its worth it to drop in. They had some Bevog and they also have quite a few of the bigger bottles (0,75l) which are hard to find elsewhere.

Posh gourmet supermarket. Great selection of high-end foods, wines, etc. Limited beer selection but the only place in downtown Vienna where I could find great regional beers (e.g., Austrian Barleywine, IPAs, and Italian craft beers).

Everything was said, this is delicacy shop with good selection of beers, mainly classical international beers, but also Austrian micros/small breweries. Prices are high, no wonder.

Worth a visit just for the ambiance, this is the gourmet food temple in Vienna! Sometimes they offer great beers that you hardly will find elsewhere in Vienna. For example they had the Bier.Pur editions in the past and even the Schneider Weisse Tap X editions. Don’t know if they will continue with this though. But they also offer some great Belgian stuff, Baladin from Italy as of late and some rarer Austrian stuff like the IPAs from Brauhaus Gusswerk. The most negative point: very expensive!

Stopped past here purely by chance as it’s so central. Julius Meinl is a premium food & drink specialist. The interior is fairly grand and stuffed full of food, drink and people! The beer is located downstairs and the selection is surprisingly decent. They have plenty of the usual international suspects and Austrian/German lager, but hidden between those are a few more interesting choices such as stuff from the Bier.pur range. The prices are however pretty high. Worth a visit just to have a long round the place.

This is a delicatessen with lots of gourmet food and other goodies. The beer range, located near the entrance of the store, is quite extensive. However, it consists mostly of lager beers from Austria and further afield, marked with their national flags. This is a place where ratebeers travel lists are very useful. The store is situated am Graben in the very heart of the centre and close to tourist spots like the St Stephens Cathedral and, more relevant, not so far from the excellent 1516 brewpub. (Was shopping here at 27.07.2012).

A top place to shop for exclusive food in the heart of vienne, but also a very expensive shop. The have a good, but not outstanding selection of beers from over the world but also quite normal austrian beers are much more expensive then elsewhere. Better visit another beer shop or a bigger supermarkte in vienna if you are not in a hurry.
