This place could surprise me maybe 10 years ago .. 20 Taps with nothing really interesting ( floreffe, chimey, bush, trappe etc ) and around 200 hundreds bottles a bit better .. Few hundred meters from the Dom is really easy to find on the main canal ..

Medium-sized beer bar with some wooden interior and a few tables outside. Twenty taps, although not all were used when I visited, mostly well-known Belgian stuff, but also some Mikkeller (which in this case is also Belgian). The rather large bottle list focuses also heavily on Belgian standards, only few surprises can be found. The quality is more than decent though, and the prices are generally okay. Very friendly and talkative staff, relaxed and not too geeky atmosphere, pleasant ambiance. Wasn’t crowded at all during my visit on a Tuesday afternoon.

This is not your average beer bar. Opened about 30 years ago during an earlier beer revolution, that focused on Belgian beer. Still a lot of the 200+ bottle list reminds of this history. From the start, this was the watering hole for squatters and students and this vibe is still there. Dont expect old people or men in suits, but international students and the occassinal hipster. Usually very crowded. There is a reasonable rotation in tap with more local brews, and on the bottled list across the bar. Not all the staff know what they are talking about, so you have to be a bit lucky. Food is very decent and not expensive. Visited this place numerous times and can imagine ppl giving a bad review when its crowded, but in less crowded hours, this place is outstanding.

While ago since I was here and apparently never rated this place. Copy of typical Belgian café, decent number of beers and knowledgable staff. Friendly too.

from notes. Visited during a bachelor party a year and a half ago. Crowdy on a Saturday night, tap list was not so special for LowLands beer geeks. Ok for the average beers, not a beer destination per se. If you want to go out (music and stuff) and have an OK beer, this is the place to visit. In case you want to talk and discuss around a beer, Café Derat & De Drie Dorstige Herten are probably better alternatives.

Definitely one of the better bars to grab a beer in Utrecht. The place is usually filled with students, expats and other international people in the 18-30 year range. Easy to make some new friends. Vibe is a bit edgy, with usually some nice rock music playing in the background. Higher energy compared to the more calm/peaceful settings of Drie Dorstige Herten and Cafe Derat, so best to end the night here. Longer opening hours as well. Approximately 20 taps, couple of hundred bottles. Selection is dominated by the usual Belgian ales and in need of some variation (IPAs, IRS). Staff is young, friendly, knowledgeable and fluent in English.

Nice, little bit crouded place, nearly 20 beers on tap but it was difficult to find an interesting or rare one or anything that I haven’t tried already. Mostly belgian beers (not surprised regarding to the name) too many commercial ones. Staff is friendly and helpful.
