Stopped in here last weekend while I was in town for the Michigan Mile. Figured it was a ten hour trip, might as well drive another twenty minutes and check out one of my longtime most wanted to visit places.
Atmosphere is a little chaotic but in a sorta good way. People are all over the place drinking, eating and just hanging out. We must have hit the jackpot as we got a parking spot right out front, got served at the bar with no wait, and got a nice table just a few feet away all in the span of five minutes. Lots of cool stuff hanging on the walls from all over the world, its just a really cool place to have a beer. Service was good. It was a little hard to get their attention but once I got it I had no problems. Quality was pretty high all things considered. The beers are top notch and the food was solid.
Selection was pretty large. I tried about 7-8 of them and they were all at least solid. The Larryís Latest DIPA I tried was incredible. We got an order of chips and some buffalo dip, both were excellent. My only knock on the food is that the menu seemed a little small but it was more than enough for a snack or two. Everything was priced pretty well. Beers were a touch high but I was expecting them to be that way since most of them werenít your everyday Bellís beers.
Overall I am glad I made the side trip over here. It is exactly what I expected and more. I look forward to returning in the future and spending a bit more time, hopefully out on the deck.

Great looking place in Kalamazoo. No TVís, no loud music. In many ways, it is the opposite of most brewpubs I have visited. Definitely for the grown folks, not college kids. Even looks great outside with a nice beer garden. Service was great. All the Bellís favorites were there plus many others I had not seen before. Food was way better than it had to be. Good prices. You have to go here if you are in Kalamazoo.

What a great place! It has a large selection and variety of quality beers (very large for a single source repertoire), a variety of spaces for customers, and loads of friendly beer aficionados. In addition, thereís a performance venue under the same roof with a secondary, smaller bar. Unfortunately, I didnít get to the store just across the parking lot since it closed much earlier.

A myriad of spaces, indoor pub, live venue hall and outdoor space. All quite nice and friendly. Service was great and friendly, always letting you taste before you buy. They have sample trays as well. I didnít eat, just had some bar snacks. Really comfortable and nice place with tons of unique and interesting beers.

Favorite brewery I have been to. Immense selection, always an assortment of interesting and friendly strangers, eccentric decorations, unique events, cool hand dryers and great smelling urinal cakes. Such a laid back atmosphere with great knowledgable and friendly staff. The back room renovation was key: it makes it possible to hang out and drink without paying cover and yelling over music. However I wish there was more variety to the musical acts. The incredibly small kitchen does a great job at unique and tasty items, lots of improvement will no doubt be had with the kitchen/dining addition. Beer garden is tons of fun when nice weather is available and allows parents to bring their kids to run around and not disrupt others. Just about my favorite place to drink when I have to wear pants. Oh, and eccentric day.

Stopped in on NYE. Nowhere to Paarl, so ended up a couple blocks away. The place was packed, but despite that service was great. Quick and helpful with my orders. Pricing was decent. About 10 samples were about $30. I really enjoyed myself here, but wish I had gotten here before the general store closed so I could have bought some merchandise. I hope to make it back here someday soon.

Iíd have to say that this is probably my favorite brewery in Michigan. Awesome selection of beer on tap; usually includes all of the usual suspects along with a handful of experimental taps, rotational brews, & taproom specialties. Quick & easy to get a beer at the bar, even during busy times. Great food, also seems to come out quickly, even when busy. Bells throws excellent events, always with a crazy taplist full of awesome beers. Priced reasonably, nice atmosphere inside with a huge ceiling & a wonderful biergarten thatís relaxing & lovely to drink beer in during the months of nice weather. All-in-all, this is a place I never mind driving 2 hours to get to. A must-visit for anyone from out of town!
