(Revisited Apr 2014, replaces rating of the old location) Nice micro brewery under the railway arch south-east of London Bridge. The new location is bigger than the original, but that is definitely needed, due to the rising demand of their beers. It still tends to get quite crowded during the Saturday afternoons. Inside it’s a open hall with wooden benches and tables. Bottles for take away are sold at the entrance and the keg beers are served at the bar inside. Service is friendly and efficient, but there’s still usually a queue (and then there’s another queue for the toilet). Beer selection is very good, they have 7 or 8 of their own high quality beers, and usually different beers every weekend. A good selection of bottled beers as well. Since my last visit they have doubled the number of toilets (from one to two), so that queue is a bit shorter. It’s a slightly different experience than sitting in a cosy old-fashioned pub by the fire, but an interesting one, and since the beers are so exceptionally good I’ll keep coming back. A must visit.

Opend every Saturday till 4 pm. Half year ago - 10 beers on tap, and many in bottles. Taps are fresh, intense in nose and hoppy in taste. Also excellent bottles, e.g. barrel aged stout 7,7 %. Kernel is simply an obligatory visit when you’re in London. Much better than top craft beer pubs there. I’ll be back!

One of many factory units under railway arches in Bermondsey. This used to be a no-go area and now it is a cosmopolitan walk about. The brewery is only open for drinkers on a Saturday, so planning has to take place. We found it slightly tricky to find but once there you find a row of trestle tables where it is best to share space, making it a good place to meet people. It has a cold feel, it is a very open area. The beer, and after all this is why you are here, is split between the Kernels many bottles to the front and a few kegged taps at the back. It has a good buzz on a sunny lunchtime but does get packed. There are just 2 loo’s so plan ahead.

The best brewery in London and a must visit for anyone in town on a Saturday. Usually around 15 or so fresh Kernel beers available across a bunch of different styles with an occasional brewery-only beer. The prices are cheaper than you’ll find Kernel beers anywhere else. The staff here are great. Very friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. The brewers are usually around and happy to chat. It can get pretty crowded around midday especially when the weather is nice. I really wish it was open more frequently.

Large “garage” under the train line in an industrial area. Large tables and enough place for everybody to sit. Clean. Good ambiance. Friendly atmosphere. Staff is also very friendly and efficient. They definitely know their products. Selection is “only” The Kernel beer, but their beers are awesome so what more can you ask? Good tap and bottle selection. Bottles can be bought “to go” or to drink on premise. There’s no food per se, but the garage just beside is selling food (cheese and delicatessen) and it looked – and smelled - pretty tasty. You won’t find better prices for The Kernel beers anywhere else. My favorite beer place in London because of the quality of the products and the atmosphere. It’s only open on Saturday so don’t miss it. And you can continue your beer run to Partizan, Brew by Numbers and Anspach & Hobday who are all within walking distance (all within 10-15 minutes).

Beers are so wonderfully fresh, much , much better than what gets to pubs later in bottles.. Fantastic Mosaic IPA is my favourite. Great ambience, very nice people behind the bar. my favourite place in UK and in Europe, too.

That place seems to be falling victim of its own success. Super crammed, and long wait to be served.

Small place in an industry area inside a railway arch. The pub is inside the storage room, the taps mounted on a pallet, another one taking the role of the serving area. Five taps that are cold, more bottles that are warm.

If you are a saturday in London, this is a must. Go for the beers, fresh on tap and then a good bottle selection to pick your takeaways. Recommended to go early on a saturday, can be crowded in the afternoon.
