This place has well deserved praise. Huge tap list with lots of specials and one-off type beers. All up to date on the chalkboard. Huge bottle list arranged by style seemed like it was kept up to date as well. Food was interesting fare but we just snacked on a couple appetizers. Nice but small sidewalk patio and excellent table service for a bar like this.

Ok, so itís not every day I come across a bar that I wish I could go to everyday, but Kickbacks definitely is! I should preface this review by saying that I beermailed Steve ahead of time and told him I was stopping by from Minneapolis. He answered my email and told me to meet him there when I got in town, I mean, what bar owner wants to meet fellow beer fanatics?! The answer = great restaurant/bar owners.
The atmosphere is great, you walk in to a full faced view of 60 something beers on tap, ranging from the typical BMC to the deep end of the pool IPAís and RISís. The people were extremely friendly and helpful. Steve even took me on a tour of the entire bar and the keg "cellar". The selection of beers was great! Steveís attitude is to have a few BMC but then have a great choice of gateway beers for people to expand their beer horizons if they choose. The menu was robust and even included Hamburger Helper if you want to go old school, totally awesome.
Again, there are very few bars I go out of my way to go to but Kickbacks is definitely one of them. Really wish this was a bar I had back in MN.

Kickbacks is truly the best beer spot in Jacksonville. The menu is fun with lots of childhood favorites. Always something new on tap. My biggest qualm is the lack of bottle list! Other than that, great place.

If youíre in Jacksonville, this place is a must, and thatís that.
A quaint little place that is a bit hard to find, and itís nearby some sketchy areas, but itís worth it, and youíre completely safe. Inside and outside there are tables with plenty of seating, etc. Everyoneís main complaint is that the taps are in the way of ordering from the bar. Well, when you have 84 taps, itís hard to deal with, GET OVER IT. You do want the good beer, donít you? Itís a small place, give íem a break!
Our service was awesome. Both times I went, the owner (Steve) was around and hooked us up hardcore. He was amazing to us, and the waitresses and bartenders were fantastic as well.
The selection is one of the, if not the, best in Florida, so go there.
The food was really great. I only ate one of the times I was there, but the macaroni and cheese is awesome!
The value was pretty good. Average to slightly high food prices, and the beer prices are all average. Definitely not more expensive than other bars around Florida.
Overall, a place you must stop if in Jacksonville. Really a great place and if you let Steve know youíre coming (find him on BA), heíll really take care of you!

ok its not really a bar, the bar is 5 seats and the taps are mounted on the Frigging bar, you have to lean under or be 7 foot tall to see a fucking bartender...ok the good things, they have 84 taps. ok only 25 i would drink but hey I am picky. the food can be good, but the common stuff like fish and chips avoid them, terrible. we been her 4 times, and the food and service is getting worse the more times we visit. we always go 2pm to 6pm. Service "always " improves after I say hello to Steve, go figure. they got a menu board finally, and they are trying hard. its sad when a average place is the BEST in town, but beer wise atm it is. parking sucks royally, but at night though there can be music, which is nice, I love the trivia game you can play for free. Beer is fresh, but served in 14 oz shakers. anything 8% is served at twice the price in a small glass. Unless your stupid rich avoid the bottles, priced way to high for us. I read in Ale street news there going to 80 taps, where they put them is going to be interesting, the seats hurt me and my wifes fat asses.
been back many times: things are better, food is still the 2md worse thing, the seats and cramped tables are the worse thing. The 84 taps makes it a beer heaven and a place not to be missed in Jacksonville. Fl.

Massive array of beers here! The selection is up to 300+ bottles (according to their beer menu). Our burgers were absolutely epic. I got a kind of college bar feel from this place, and the local neighborhood looks a bit sketchy, but donít let that deter you. This place is very good!

Cool neighborhoody feeling place with an eclectic crowd. Its a sports bar, mixed with beer bar, with a side of bohemian charm. A little divey, in a good way. Service was prompt and friendly. Wide menu featuring some southernnfluences, seafood and pub grub. Also offered specials, everything at good prices. Great place to relax and enjoy some solid beers.

Yes, a killer laid-back populist vibe. They call it a gastropub but itís not really that, itís a good bar with solid comfort food and breakfast all day--great breakfast all day, I should say. If the array of tap handles at the bar donít signal itís a beer bar, then the tap handles hanging from the ceiling like stalactites will. Located in a funky, artsty-grungy neighborhood about a mile away from Bold City. Great service and they are definitely worth a visit.

This wasnít on RB? Seriously? Itís around the corner from Bold City, has a huge long line of taps and a bottle list to boot. Good deals on diner food and the odd flash of grit in its character. I canít imagine a more compelling destination that Jax might have to offer.
