The best pub in Carlisle for consistent high quality real ale. Yates Bitter always available and up to three guest beers, Yates’ newest brews always appear here too. Real cider now a permanent feature and very welcome in what is a bit of a cider desert. Traditional style pub, very well run, with a pleasant, covered, outdoor area at the back, which features live performances during the ’summer’ months. Good value pub food served Mon-Sat lunch times..

Beer selection is quite limited. 4 cask, 2 were the same. Very old fashioned pub.

Traditional modern in design, soft furnishings with plenty of oak wood to compliment the cosy low ceiling feel. Beer selection fine, at least 3 ales on offer including from Yates. No satellite television but did show terrestrial football when it was on. Internet advertised but was told it was ’not working’ when I was there. Juke box.

Good pub, visited on a Saturday lunchtime, food (burgers) was excellent and was great value, chips are highly recommended! It seems to be quite a food orientated pub, that said, the beer (I had Yates) was superb. Worth a visit!
