Plain place. Good food, decent enough beer range with at least one gravity offering and real cask ales. Worth a look.

A busy spot with lots of good session cask ales. Great value here in addition to CAMRA discounts. Efficient bar staff, diverse clientele. Seems like a great spot overall. I could easily pass a good chunk of time in here.

A very decent boozer that I’ve frequented on a number of occasions over the last few years. Visited here on 03-10-09 and whilst it is undoubtedly a great little place it seems to have slipped a little further behind its close neighbour the Cambridge Blue, there was a beer festival on when I arrived but to be honest I was barely even aware of this unitl I went out into the garden and saw the casks, no one was out there and compared to the garden of last time it seemed a little sad and deserted, I accept that this visit was in October (albeit on a pleasant day) and my last visit was in June but much of the garden is covered. The beer selection was reasonably diverse but seemed to lack imagination. The beer quality was good though and maybe I just visited on a day when it wasn’t at its best. UPDATE have visited here very frequently over the last three years since my last rating, in fact probably 3-4 times a year. My most recent visits have been in March 2012 and Sat 14th April 2012. The beers are always in very good nick with the likes of Crouch Vale Brewers Gold and Jaipur seemingly permanent selections. The choice is never quite as interesting as The Cambridge Blue but to be fair there is always something interesting or new (for me) to try. Good service a a nice little bar in an area which is spoilt for choice.

Quiet, friendly feel. Always with 10 real ales on hand pump. No bottled beers, no lagers. And that’s policy. HAving said that - policy has now changed. Now there’s some good foreign stuff in bottles. No piped music, I consider that a plus. Tucked away down a side-street on the south-east of town (head down mill road), you’ll need to be sneaky to hide your car somewhere. Oh - free internet access on 2 terminals for customers. Rate while you drink - hoorah!

This is a great local watering hole. There’s 12 cask beers and a small (but decent) selection of bottles. The cask offerings were interesting (Thornbridge, Oakham, a few locals) and well-kept. They offer one ’Recession Special’ beer for 2 quid a pint. The ambiance was great - very laid back and welcoming. There’s a nice back garden for when the weather’s cooperative. The food looked good. Overall, I really wish I had known about this place when I lived in Cambridge. While the beer selection at the Cambridge Blue may be a bit more exciting for tickers, this place has charm in spades. Recommended.

A superb pub! I visited on Saturday 15th August 2009 and found pub unchanged since last time. Ten well-kept beers on, and a superb, comprehensive food menu catering for everyone. Drinkers are invited to use the internet on a screen opposite the bar and those wishing to drink outside are provided with a spacious rear patio garden. Staff are friendly and enthusiastic about their jobs, rubbing off on service which I found to be very good indeed. This pub is a MUST on any Cambridge crawl.

A light and airy backstreet pub with a good range of ales (but somewhat eclipsed by the Cambridge Blue around the corner). A wide ranging selection of 10 beers on hand-pump, with 6 regulars and 4 guests; good service, and great prices. Very busy in the early evening due to the excellent food.

Great selection of real ales in a good condition. The first time when I visited the place there was a beer festival going on. Not a bad start at all. (2010, 2011)

Worth the trek from the city. A great selection of real ales from many different breweries. Good service too. Feels like home!

Nice backstreet pub. I was there mid afternoon - no music, good friendly vibe, lots of beers on tap, a few classics and a couple of interesting locals. Would be a great local!
