Visited May 2011.
Beautiful historic place with great beers as a plus. The outdoor terrace in a quiet part of the medieval town gives this place a special charm. Would go again!

Really nice old building by the river in Bamberg. We sat outside which was pleasant. The service was quite good. They had some english menus and the waitress spoke a bit of english as well. Didn’t eat here but they have a full food menu. The beer was disappointing though, average-bad.

It’s Bamberg’s oldest brewery and the building itself holds charm. The Schwarzla is a highlight and I found the staff to be friendly. It was wet and cold outside so opted for a seat in the restaurant however on a nice day it sure would be lovely sitting along the river soaking it all up.

Visited several times with my parents. Rather spacy brauhaus, in walking distance from the town center. Cosy place, with lots of seatings, both inside as well as outside. Beers served in good condition, staff are most time friendly. The place can at times be rather busy, I prefer to visit early in the day. They do traditionel franconian food as well, great apfelstrudel ;-)

Visited on a Saturday evening 30 minutes from closing time, late April ’12.
Traffic timber building in the altstadt, 5 or 6 minutes walk from Schlenkerla.
Typical interior with wood floor and nick nacks on the wall. The place wasnt too busy as closing time approached and the ’as standar’ middle aged grumpy frau made it clear that we were only getting one round of drinks! To be fair they arrived promptly and between us picked up 4 different brews.
Beers are of a decent level and whilst this isnt an essential stop on a visit to Bamberg it would probably come in at number at around no.5.or so for me.

Out of all the places that I visited in Bamberg, this place stood out as the most cozy and inviting. The beer was great and the service was very friendly. Another must stop...highly recommended.

Visited April 2013. This is the oldest brewery in Bamberg I believe. Not as atmospheric as Schlenkerla, and it was a nice day so I sat outside on the sloped street. Not food between lunch and dinner, but when the kitchen re-opened, the waiter made a point to tell us. Impressive building in the old part of town.

History in those walls, traditional bier stube with a white chalked roof, supported by wooden beams. Chalked walls over dark wooden panels. Iron stove almost in center of the room. Deer antlers as decoration. And fresh beer from tap, also possible to buy bottles from the brewery. Nice small patio on the outside, perfect for a summer day.
