Small pub with a backyard. Wooden tables and benches. 6 rotating taps from semi and small CZ breweries. Fridge with flying dog and De Molen beers. Hel and Verdomenis for 4 Euro per bottle!!! Perhaps the best bar in Plzen and def the place to try beers from the better CZ breweries. Having been in Prague several times - I expected a bit more.

We visited 25.11.2013. This pub is located very close to the Pilsner Urquell brewery (5 min walk, over the bridge). Looks a bit weird, like a student club, but has a special atmosphere (bamboo mats on the ceiling). Only locals when we were there. Had a great IPA from Matuska, good quality and temperature. They also have a good bottle selection. Definitely worth a visiting.

A typical, slightly obscure Czech pub reminiscent of a sports pub. Therefore it is not so much about the ambience (although the barmaid was nothing short of lovely) but about the beer. The bottled ones are nothing special - standard Belgian and German fare. But the 6 taps offer a very nice selection of Czech micros and on busy evenings they tend to rotate rather quickly. I would definitely like to have such a pub where I live. Oh, and it’s luckily a non-smoking zone.

Basic pub with 6 changing taps. Also many beers from flying dog and some belgians. Right next to urquell brewery, worth visiting. And prices are very affordable.

Stopped by here on my one night in Plzen. It was immediately next to my hotel (Angelo) and across from the Pilsner Urquell brewery. Small bar, six taps plus a case of bottles but very good selection. The bar was reasonably crowded for a Tuesday. Outdoor patio too. Great service, no trouble with English. Not sure if they serve food. If you’re in Plzen, this is arguably the only place to go.

Small and cosy place, with a very local feel to it. A bit raw looking, nothing fancy here. The biergarten looked very nice, but it was full and we sat in the taproom which had a bit of a frying oil smell. 6 taps of Czech and German micro in varying quality and a very decent bottle selection, all at very fair prices.

Visited on the way to RBESG ’12 with erickok. Great bar next to our hotel :-) Six rotating taps, some bottles in the fridge. Place looks like a mix between a brown café and a sports canteen. All wooden tables, brick walls, nice outside garden which was (unfortunately) completely reserved for a party. Food were some snacks and lucky for us they also had some bbq meat. All dirt cheap and good. Service was very good, waiter was really happy and eager to let us try everything they had. Would definitely go again whenever I’m around.

What a crazy place. First of, it’s located outside the city centre and as it happened right next to our hotel. From the outside it looks like an apartment building, on the inside like a sports cantine. The tap list consisted of 8 micros, which were of very varying quality. None were really strong or dark, but still an interesting variety to them, including fruit flavoured beers. Also some bottles, including a cool micro Czech barley wine, the K31. They had a grill going on and the meat and cheese from that was great. The guy at the bar spoke English and was enthusiastic about serving us. On top, everything (except the barley wine maybe) was crazily cheap. Don’t expect a fancy, modern style bar, but instead an adventurous local pub. We really liked it.

Located between the main train station and the Plzeňský Prazdroj brewery. A good place to taste different beers from small Czech breweries on tap. There are usually six rotating taps, though when we went there (on a Monday), there were only four, plus bottled beers. Food is limited to the usual Czech bar snacks, which means you won’t stay hungry, and quite cheap. The ambiance reminded me of a sports club home, not very cozy, but not dislikable either. A good place to sample beers, though. Luckily non-smoking.

Best place in Plzen to sample beers from small breweries on tap. Constantly changing selection of 6 beers, often has a really good variety. Serves classic, if a little conservative, Czech brews and also the more adventurous from the likes of Matuska and Kocour, who brew very much in the style of the U.S craft beer industry. Food is bar-snacks and relatively basic but the pickled cheese is well worth trying. Non-smoking and busy most evenings, so booking is required if you desire a table. A great bar!
