We came here on 18.6.2016 during the Euopean Championships to watch one of the games in the public viewing area. The beer garden is huge and seems to be the largest one in Bavaria (8,000 seats!). What makes the beer garden quite unique is the beer selection. They have Augustiner Helles from the wooden barrel and draft beers from Tegernseer and König Ludwig. In total around 10 beers on the menu (including the saisonal 2 bock beers in the bottle). Also the food selection is quite good and is spread over several shacks in the garden (chicken, spare ribs, fish, sausages, etc.). The majority of the garden is ’self service’, only the area close to the restaurant is served. Overall a very good beer garden with one of the better beer selections.

The largest Biergarten in Munich, in Bavaria, in Germany and presumably in the world… You can get Your Augustiner Hell right from the wooden barrel (210 l, called "Hirschen" - "stag") Absolutely not touristy, popular with locals.Worth a little detour…

Huge, and atmospheric biergarten, and very nice place to drop in for a couple of beers and some food. The beer garden is ’self-service’ i.e. its buffet style, and this garden has a deer enclosure, and on one of the occasions we went an oompah band were playing which lended it quite an ambience. Be aware that there are two areas serving beer, one with a much larger range than the other.

Visited this biergarten to simply experience what it would be like to drink with over 8000 people around you. The biergarten is situated next to a beautiful park. As for service they have the self service option & also full service option. Be sure to check that out before you select your seating area. They only have a couple of beers on tap. The service was quick & friendly in-spite of the huge crowds. The food was OK. As for prices, they were lower than the biergartens in the city center.Would highly recommend this biergarten as it provides a unique experience.

This is the best biergarten in Munich. It’s very atmospheric and traditional. They have augustiner helles from holzfass, tegernsee, konig ludwig dunkel and konig ludwig weissbier. Wood is excellent. Too bad that last time when I visited this place I was completely drunk - it was after Oktoberfest :)

Octoberfest 2009: After spending the early part of the afternoon in the Fischer Vroni my wife, bierman9 (a BA I’d arranged to meet) and his mate decided to take the s-bahn out to here. The park in which the Hirschgarden sits in is huge, we arrived in daylight and left in darkness, could we find our way back to the s-bahn? No, is the answer you are looking for. My wife I evendually found our way to a bus stop and managed to miss our train out of Munich by 10 minutes! Augustiner beers only, we had the O’Fest Marzen, just to top up what we’d had earlier. Sat on a bench seat, we passed the time away putting the world to rights and the merits of various beers, towns and bars, great fun. There was just one serving area/bar where you queued up to get your beer or food. The curry-wurst and chips we had were fantastic, the beers just as good as you’d expect, fresh and far too drinkable. This is a place to visit if you like open spaces, deers (there is a compound full of them next to the beergarden) and Augustiner beers. Just make sure you leave before dusk sets in.

I was wondering why this hadn’t been added yet. This place is a blast. As far as Munich Biergarten go, this has the best selection I have found. Several different brewers have their stands, so you pretty much have to go up and get your beers. Nice food, though quite the usual. Huge place, and lots of people are very friendly. A good place to go.

Incredible place tucked away in Munich. This is a real authentic Bavarian biergarten, not like the Hofbrauhaus or the ones surrounding it that are mobbed with tourists. Went here with two residents of München. Phenomenal, unbelievably fresh Augustiner Edelstoff on cask, plus others, including Konig Ludwig’s Dunkel. Had awesome trout and a gigantic pretzel for dinner. A must see, but try not to make this place touristy too. It’s charm is seeing the Bavarian culture at work.
