Avrŗ le migliori birre al mondo ma non ho apprezzato ne il locale, ne il servizio. La tappa Ť obbligatoria e di sicuro tornerÚ sperando in una miglior impressione.

Visited the place twice with a couple of my best friends. The first time, we came here a bit by surprise. Some people told us about the beer book, which convinced us immediately. A couple of years later, this place was our number one spot to visit during a small trip to Antwerp. From the outside, itís just plain nothing. But inside, itís magical. With plants growing everywhere and the chamber music on the background, this is quite an A-typical spot. But yet, it is so cozy and traditional in all its sense. The time stops within the Kulminators walls. Here, it is just mere enjoyment and relaxation. Maybe the most tantric beer experience Iíve ever had. This place is absolutely a gem. Visit it before itís over. You donít want to go to those hip new beer gardens, do you?

The bar with itís own atmosphere, itís very hard to explain, because you must visit it to understand. Wonderful choice of beer.

To me, the Kulminator was as close to beer heaven as any place on Earth. Visited it often years ago. The atmosphere is kind of cosy and very íold schoolí, but the important thing is of course the phone book-like menu boasting hundreds of vintage beers, sometimes from breweries that do not even exist anymore; it reads as a catalogue of Belgian brewing history. Be careful with what you select, though, we all know that most beers are not suitable for years of cellaring. Some very interesting foreign vintages too, mainly English and German. Service is okay, the lady is correct and competent though a bit standoffish, even towards customers that have been coming here for years; her husband on the other hand is not the friendliest guy around and does not always bother to find your beer if he does not consider you worthy of it, I have the impression. Nevertheless a very important place from which I always leave completely relaxed and satisfied. Price vary from reasonable to high. Offers some basic cold foods too, some of which are different from what you expect to find. When you go there, be sure to have a look through the window behind which dozens of old bottles are stored and displayed.

Stopped in my first night in Antwerp and this was not what I was expecting. I was thinking this would be like Falling Rock in Denver. Think the exact opposite of that. Tiny little place with shit piled everywhere, even on what would otherwise be seating for customers. Empty bottles all over the place, some semi-outside seating, a bit dirty. Charming I guess you would say. Cats running around all over. Beer list is huge, with a window into the cooler/cellar which was fun. Had a 2005 Stille Nacht Special Reserva so canít complain. Service was fine with an older lady taking care of us. Prices were decent for smaller bottles, but jacked up for big ones. Overall seems like a must stop for any beer geek in Antwerp.

Amazing place. Selection of "old" beer is exceptional. So many unique beers that it is more or less impossible to match anywhere. Service from Leen is friendly and competent, Dirk lurking behind the bar, valuing the customers and deciding whether certain beers are available. I kinda like that. The atmosphere is cozy with the cats running around. The front looks horrible though.

Resistance is futile. Just go with the flow and take a seat, nod at the proprietors, and wait to be served whilst being reasonably submissive. Try and find a beer menu - itís like a book - and wait until approached. Eventually the atmosphere will warm up and you will feel part of the atmospheric experience. Check out the beer cellar through a window, try and find a beer from a significant year, and just be happy you are experiencing a part of beer history. Best bar in the world.

Best pub Iíve been to. Great atmosphere, friendly owners and a mind blowing catalogue of really special, rare and aged beers, both on tap as bottle.
