Very nice place, amazing list, with aged beers (especially the struise list is impressive) Had a few bottles from 2008-2010 at a reasonable price. Very friendly people

They open from 16 to 24 (except on mondays, when they close at 20). Huuuge selection of provisiebier, that is, aged beers. Had a 10 year old Orval for just 8Ä! The couple running the place are very nice and hospitable, in spite of what Iíve lately been reading here. And the choice is gigantic.

Truly a fascinating place. Didnít quite know what to expect, but would have been somehow surprised anyhow. Been too a lot of pubs and bars over the years, but never seen anything like this. Messy and strange, but certainly charming. Impressive selection makes it hard to choose and sometimes also hard to find, at least it may take some time. Pleasant atmosphere and fascinating interior. A place to experience and not the place for just a quick tick. Would go back any time.

Small traditional bar close to the old town centre. Most amazing selection of ales. Very relaxing atmosphere. Owner reminds me of a Lord of the Rings character. One of the most amazing bars I have ever visited. Revisited a few years later after I have had a chance to visit a lot more bars around the world. Now not so impressed. Door locked mid Saturday evening. Inhabited by a few beer geeks. Place looked like someones untidy living room. Beer list full of old rare rather than good beers. Indifferent service. This place is more a beer museum / antique store rather than bar. It is also shabby and a bit run down.

Visited October 2011, a month before joining ratebeer, as a novice beergeek. Owners were grumpy and werenít too keen on our indecisiveness. Great selection though and Iím sure that the next visit would be nicer and that I wouldnít waste my time and money trying to score old bottles.

Visited a couple times over the past few years during trips to Belgium. The main reason to visit Kulminator is for the vintage bottle list which contains numerous beers you probably wonít find anywhere else though most of the highly sought after beers are long gone. Iím not a huge fan of the atmosphere, which feels like drinking in my grandmaís living room, or the service, which can be very slow to nonexistent at times. Depending on how Dirk is feeling (and Iíve never once seen him happy) you may or may not be able to order bottles from the cellar. While still a good bar and a worthwhile stop, I think that Kulminatorís best days are behind it.

When youíre in Antwerp, most certainly worth a visit. Extensive (vintage) beer list. knowledgeable grumpy owner and his lovely wife who tries her best to give you a good time. Great place. Update: Perhaps this place is past its peak by now... Time to retire?
