Cult beer bar, with a pretty epic vintage list. Iím sure the list was better years ago, as the number of rare lambics available now was fairly low. Charming atmosphere, with a feel unlike any other bar Iíve been to -- there is ivy strung across the place and the family ownerís cat roaming around. The woman owner was very nice and hospitable; the man didnít seem the friendliest. Prices are very reasonable for what youíre getting. They have some snacks as well - some nice cheeses and sausages. Amazing place and an absolute must for any Belgium beer trip.

Stopped in here shortly after they opened on a Monday night. The lady behind the bar greeted us immediately and let us know how the service there worked. If you sit in the front of the bar, she would wait on you, but if you sit in the back, you have to come up front and place your order at the bar. We took a few minutes to figure out what beer we wanted to order, and I came up to the bar to place my order. Unfortunately, the beer I wanted, was apparently off limits. At least it was off limits to me anyway. I was told they didnít have enough to let me have a bottle of it. I was a little taken aback by this. I knew this could happen if I tried to order something rare, but I didnít. At least in my opinion, a Lindemans Cuvee Kriek is not all that rare. Anyway, we started the evening poorly, and just couldnít recover. One redeeming factor is that every beer afterward, we were allowed to have. Also, the people that frequent the bar all seemed very friendly and were fun to chat with. The hostility of the bar owner is just overly off-putting, and enough so that I would not recommend this place to anybody, unless they speak flemish. I think that is where we went wrong.

This is one of those places that you just have to experience. Iím not sure if it is on the menu, but when I was there you could get a flight of all the drafts for about Ä20. I donít think everyone will like this place, but I loved it.

They open from 16 to 24 (except on mondays, when they close at 20). Huuuge selection of provisiebier, that is, aged beers. Had a 10 year old Orval for just 8Ä!
The couple running the place are very nice and hospitable, in spite of what Iíve lately been reading here. And the choice is gigantic.

Truly a fascinating place. Didnít quite know what to expect, but would have been somehow surprised anyhow. Been too a lot of pubs and bars over the years, but never seen anything like this. Messy and strange, but certainly charming. Impressive selection makes it hard to choose and sometimes also hard to find, at least it may take some time. Pleasant atmosphere and fascinating interior. A place to experience and not the place for just a quick tick. Would go back any time.

Small traditional bar close to the old town centre. Most amazing selection of ales. Very relaxing atmosphere. Owner reminds me of a Lord of the Rings character. One of the most amazing bars I have ever visited. Revisited a few years later after I have had a chance to visit a lot more bars around the world. Now not so impressed. Door locked mid Saturday evening. Inhabited by a few beer geeks. Place looked like someones untidy living room. Beer list full of old rare rather than good beers. Indifferent service. This place is more a beer museum / antique store rather than bar. It is also shabby and a bit run down.

Visited October 2011, a month before joining ratebeer, as a novice beergeek. Owners were grumpy and werenít too keen on our indecisiveness. Great selection though and Iím sure that the next visit would be nicer and that I wouldnít waste my time and money trying to score old bottles.
