82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 ACD (19) Dublin, Ireland | March 21, 2013 A gastropub of true quality in the North central part of the city.
Plenty of local and international brews on tap (normally between 15 and 20 kegs pouring and one or two cask items). Large selection of bottled beer, although at high prices. Beer menus are often a bit infuriating as they list rarities that just aren’t there (don’t say you’ve got Cantillon Gueuze if it hasn’t been in stock for months!), however, that’s only a small gripe.
Food is delicious, high quality local fare - but again at a premium price that seems to be ever increasing given the critical acclaim this place has (rightfully) gained over recent months.
Service is first class: all staff members are friendly, trained fully and knowledgeable about everything on offer - great to see.
This is a real all rounder of a place, although it’s certainly become more of an eating venue than a boozer over recent times. It’s always packed to the rafters too, so it’s necessary to book unless you’re going in for a solo pint in the bar area.
LMG is first class, no doubt about it. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 SudsMcDuff (174) .....Manchester United.........., Texas | January 13, 2013 first off- not a grocery store, its a bar. . decent selection of beers. they have a rotating house brew made by one of the staff (it was very good) .. prices were on the higher side .. decent staff. an ok place. | 74 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 garthicus (53) Dublin, Ireland | January 2, 2013 Great spot, fantastic line up, staff are great, lovely food menu (albeit expensive) and a lot of nice touches around the pub, I adored the pencil case/mathematical case the bill came in and the 10 penny bags instead of mints. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Deu (10) , Ireland | November 2, 2012 Nice pubs. Sometimes a little empty (and sometinmes too packed) but overall it’s OK. Large choice of beers :) Really good food but a litlle expensive. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 BeerItsNice (6) , Ireland | September 15, 2012 Great pub with great staff. Big selection of craft beer and pretty good food. A very nice atmosphere. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 17/20 Gazza (160) Worcester, England | December 9, 2011 Probably one of my favourite pubs in the world... and that’s saying something! A huge range of Irish craft beer, staff who enthuse about it, great food and an undefinable feel that they really care about what they do makes this the essential stop in Dublin for beer lovers... and, with drinkstore.ie almost across the street, it’s win-win all round. Buses 37 or 39 from Aston Quay (close to Messrs) to directly outside. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 ladnewton (144) London, England | October 30, 2011 Visited on 30th September 2011. Pub well worth the effort of finding. Long, narrow pub with table seating and partitioned bar. Service prompt and friendly. Probably the best range of different Irish beers during my short stay in Dublin. Alongside quite a few O’Hara’s keg ales and stout, at least two cask ales on handpump. Food good and reasonable value - try the sausages and mash. Note the unusual way food menus are presented - in old books! When I arrived it looked as if a reading club had descended on the pub! Would visit again when next in Dublin. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 kschep (44) , Denmark | August 15, 2011 since the written beer menu was outdated the tender was kind enough to point out all the new arrivals. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 thelynchfella (4) Dublin, Ireland | July 28, 2011 Old school bar with a neomodern theme. craft beer! Really good selection of craft beer both on tap and in bottles. and a tasty food menu too. Staff are great. Friendly and know their stuff. If in the area, definitely a place to check out. Don’t let the outside fool you, it’s a crackin little boozer!!! | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 omhper (154) Stockholm, Sweden | October 29, 2010 Just down the road, opposite side of the street from The Drink Store. Has a selection of Irish craft beers that matches Bull and Castle, and a bottle selection that seems to come straight from The Drink Stor, meaning loads of US microbrews, some of which I have never seen before. Food was alright, and the environment slow and relaxed. |
