La Barberie is a great pub with a fantastic ambiance, especially in the summer when their beautiful terrace is open. It is massive too, it must at least double their total capacity. As other posters have mentioned, the actual beers can be a bit hit or miss, but the hits are very enjoyable. My advice: take the bigger of the two carousels, order in some takeaway (Ashton’s is just round the corner) and spend a lazy afternoon working your way through their sometimes off the wall selection. Despite being near the train station and the old city, it’s sort of tucked dissuasively underneath the motorway and therefore seems only to attract the most determined of tourists. Good mix of people at all times.

Superb brewpub just outside the old city. Always busy with locals, students and beer geeks. Bring your own snacks and food or order take out as they don’t sell food.. Wide range of beers, although the stouts are probably the nicest.

Definitely one of the, if not the best brewpubs in Quebec City. On summer evenings, the new terrasse is awesome for spending quality time with friends. Inside the brewpub, it is more quiet, relaxing, which is perfect to have a chat in a small group. The personnel know their beers in and out, you can feel the passion when they talk about it. The beers are great, incredible variety, there is a style for every customer. Lots of seasonal beers, the selection drastically changes from one month to the next, which makes it an experience almost everytime one stops by. They have that Stout Sunday event pretty much every month, I believe. Four or six stouts, which you can purchase, accompanied by an equal amount of chocolate truffles to eat with your beer. It is a great way to make customers discover new stouts. Only downsides: you have to order food in order to eat and the place shuts down at 1 am, even on weekends. Overall, any beer lover who comes to Quebec City must stop by this place.

Spent a few days in Quebec city and was glad that I stopped by here before leaving. A nice, friendly place populated mostly by locals and the odd tourist. Their beers are good, but not usually spectacular (not bad either). They have two sampler offerings of all 8 taps: 125ml tasters at $16 or 250ml for $26 (4 pints!) Both seem like a pretty good deal to me, so I split the larger version with my lady friend. No problem bringing our kids, either and the bartender was very friendly. No food, but as someone else mentioned, it is possible to order food from nearby restaurants (I noticed a folder of menus at the bar). If you’re in Quebec city, it’s worth going!

Went here with the wife for a few beers before a weekday dinner. This is a nice little spot in the St Roch area of the city though the area feels pretty remote at night. The beers were nothing spectacular but the lack of good options in QC seems to bring out the locals to this spot as it was packed. I think they have some snacks for purchase but I saw a few tables that ordered pizza from a nearby spot and ate it here. Given your choices while in QC I think you have to visit La Barberie.

One of my favorite brewpubs in Quebec City. Cool atmosphere and some great beers.
