Outstanding atmosphere, college pennants from across the country cover the walls (including one from my alma mater, bonus points). Small rounded bar area with a lot of tables. Staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable. Selection is good, lots of styles on tap - sampler is a great way to try them all. Value is pretty reasonable. Overall, itís a great little gem in the Lake Placid area, and the Ubu is outstanding!

This is a great brewpub. Good beers and a solid selection, nothing crazy, mostly normal styles, but all the beers are well made. There is a cool bar on the first floor, a nice bar and eatery on the second, and some tables to eat on the third with a childrenís playroom. This is Great if you have kids. Some awesome decks overlooking mirror lake as well. And the food was very good. Mostly pub food, but very tasty. Love this place. Always try to stop in while in lake placid.

The wife cruised thru on a business trip to grab me some brews. Her review: Nice clean bar, friendly staff helped me grab a mixed 6 pack and get back on the road quickly. The place smelled great I wish I would have had time for lunch. Would definitely make a point to try if in the area again.

Very nice experience. Four adults ate lunch with 3 of us drinking beer for $65.00. Food was good. Generous portions. A strange Shepardís Pie recipe though. It was like mashed potatoes floating in soup. Friendly and quick service. Take a college pennant along so that they can add it to their collection over the bar. This is a short walk from the center of town.

Just returned from a long weekend in Lake Placid...stayed at the Hampton Inn next door (btw...best Hampton Inn Iíve ever seen). The really cool thing is the two places are adjacent...drink at the LPPB and walk a very short walk home. This place really has great atmosphere...across from Mirror Lake...especially the downstairs pub. The food is decent...the beer is very good...I wouldnít say great...but very good. The IPA was nice along with Rauch the Cas-Bock...but the real star is the Ubu..a great English strong ale. The vibe is pretty cool downstairs...especially when itís snowing hard outside which it was the night I visited. The staff was great too. Although I was never a huge fan of their bottled beer...a visit here is definitely a must when in the area.

My style of place. The food was good for a brewpub, with a nice assortment of sandwiches, salads, soups and spicy entrees. The beer (I had the sampler) was also a great deal. Quality brews all around that were each very sessionable. The waitress noticed I was taking notes but she was very friendly and took good care of our table. It was a quick lunch but definitely one that I want to repeat.

FROSTBITE ALE ALONE IS WORTH THE TRIP FROM SARATOGA. DO NOT JUDGE BY THE BOTTLED VERSIONS AVAILABLE OF UBU AND THE IPA. Actually, the REApanoramic vista of Mirror Lake AND some of the High Peaks! THE best bar view in Placid by far. They usually have some of this brewpubs beers on tap. ADDENDUM 3/4/06: Returned: No growlers available "for another month or so", according to server. 6 packs are available. Frostbite remains as good as ever. Unfortunately, they have changed the menu (with the inevitable price increases accross the board); Iíll just say we liked the offerings on the previous menu quite better. Oh well.

A little hard to find, but worth a stop. Good sampler offering, and the food looked great but we had just eaten. Nice wood cabin ambiance, which was very fitting for our winter visit. Manager was off putting, insisted that the tap handle we own for one of their products must have been "stolen" because we bought it on Ebay... I guess their Ubu taps are all handcarved by a local guy? Anyway, made us feel like jerks when all we had inquired about was a sticker for the tap handle. Whatever. Still a good place to grab a sampler.

Visited for the first time September 19, 2012. Twice, before and after supper. Nice looking place with a view of Mirror Lake, off the Main Street, so there should be less tourist, well at less in the lower bar. I drank my two beers downstairs in what they call P.J. OíNeillís, the name of the pub before LPPB moved in. A simple, nonchalant pub that made me feel comfortable. The barmaid was quite knowledgeable, to the point of telling us that the ESB was too malty, she was right. Like I said, I had two of their beer, the IPA and UBU Ale, quite nice. A must come back!
