Outstanding atmosphere, college pennants from across the country cover the walls (including one from my alma mater, bonus points). Small rounded bar area with a lot of tables. Staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable. Selection is good, lots of styles on tap - sampler is a great way to try them all. Value is pretty reasonable. Overall, it’s a great little gem in the Lake Placid area, and the Ubu is outstanding!

Very nice experience. Four adults ate lunch with 3 of us drinking beer for $65.00. Food was good. Generous portions. A strange Shepard’s Pie recipe though. It was like mashed potatoes floating in soup. Friendly and quick service. Take a college pennant along so that they can add it to their collection over the bar. This is a short walk from the center of town.

Visited on a quiet Thursday afternoon in July for lunch and beer. Nice place. Our server was prompt and friendly. They had six brews on draft, five of them were good, two were excellent, and one was undrinkable. The food (I got a buffalo chicken wrap) was excellent. All in all, I had a pretty decent experience.

My style of place. The food was good for a brewpub, with a nice assortment of sandwiches, salads, soups and spicy entrees. The beer (I had the sampler) was also a great deal. Quality brews all around that were each very sessionable. The waitress noticed I was taking notes but she was very friendly and took good care of our table. It was a quick lunch but definitely one that I want to repeat.

Why the refusal to have a porter or stout on tap during the summer or fall seasons?

I used to go to school up near Lake Placid, so this place was always a stop for a bite and a few beers. The ambiance is very laid back and friendly here. It’s not the nicest brewpub you’ll go to, but it has a comfy atmosphere. The food is good and filling, but nothing to shout about. The beer selection is good. They usually have 5 or 6 house brews with the Frostbite Pale Ale being my fav, although they had a nice Maibock last time I stopped there. All in all, a nice place to relax and drink a few ADK brews.

This convivial brewpub’s beers were all decent, the Frostbite Pale Ale being a standout. The food was good, hearty pub fare, and the service very friendly. The decor upstairs is a mix of ski chalet and cozy pub, and it actually works. A very comfortable atmosphere is created, one which is perfect for a meal and a few brews.

Good beer, good people, good prices. Always willing to explain both the food and beer menus.

Visited the upstairs bar on a sweltering July afternoon. No A/C. Ugh. Anyway, the bartender was friendly and willing to chat a bit about the beer lineup and other seasonals. Locals were also friendly and I think I was the only tourist in the joint. Ordered a Cobb Salad that came fresh and plentiful and reasonably priced. The beers were also priced right and you could get growlers to go for just $10. They had two seasonals on, both wheats, and they were just right to beat the heat. Bartender was good enough to buy back a couple of rounds. A good experience for sure, but a bit of a run down joint.
