50 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 3/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 10/20 vomit (4) Michigan | March 28, 2013 BEST PLACE EVER (in grand marais)! NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING IS BETTER (in grand marais), VERY BEST SELECTION OF CRAFT BEERS (in grand marais) and BEST SERVICE EVER (in grand marais). GM has one bar, and a population of about 12. SO THIS PLACE ROCKS. Or not. Definitely like to get my drink on here, when I am up there camping and whatnot. | 32 AMBIANCE 1/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 1/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 9/20 Dro (17) Fort Wayne, Indiana | February 19, 2012 Good fish, the beers brewed on premise are to be skipped. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 blackflag321 (36) Lansing, Michigan | January 16, 2012| Updated August 18, 2012 Been there twice: during the busiest summer season and during the slower early fall season. Great experience both times. Good beer, good food, good service. What more can you ask for? Worth the drive from anywhere in the central or eastern U.P. | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 Onslow (9) Kalamazoo, Michigan | July 3, 2010| Updated August 18, 2012 What’s not to like? This is a simple bar with great food and really great beer on tap. The new Michigan smoking ban means that the air in the bar is clear and clean, so it is sae for even those with delicate sensitivities. The service is FAST and attentive – the serving staff managed to be everyone at once and should get kudos for their really hard work. Pizza is awesome as is the very fresh Lake Superior Whitefish and other menu items. It is a fairly rural place and if you want urban refinement and sophistication, well, you’d have to go to Munising for that. And the beer is great too – couldn’t ask for more. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 auerbrau (285) Peace Dale, Rhode Island | August 27, 2009| Updated August 18, 2012 Was last here in 2006. A solid local place with a handful of decent beers, some affordable pizza, and the only brewpub scene for many, many, many miles. Very low-key, rural, and laid-back. When I was here, it was surprisingly smokey. Hopefully, that’s changed. It was also rather busy when I was there and the service flagged. Otherwise, if you’re within 50 miles, you should probably go. |
