100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 20/20 JAF737300 (45) Chicago, Illinois | July 4, 2007 One of the most fun and most informative beer tours that I have been to! The owner walks you around and is fun and candid. You actually learn a great deal of info! The beers are on tap or available for bottle (single or six) purchase. Logo wear is available and cheap. A MUST visit. | 100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 20/20 theisti (352) Leawood, Kansas | October 26, 2006| Updated August 6, 2008 I was among the first to tour Lakefront back in the River west days. I had not been back to the brewery since the move to the river, but my goodness, what a change. The facility is tremendous. Beautifully done, and the wit, personality and class of the original is still maintained. Many thanks to the KiIsch’s for their contribution to Milwaukee. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 biergeniesser (6) Wisconsin | May 8, 2012| Updated August 6, 2008 Great beer tour - probably the most fun in all of Milwaukee. Yes, you have to pay, but it’s worth it! | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 BeerKristine (6) Arizona | March 19, 2011| Updated August 6, 2008 Funnest.tour.ever. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 Mzalenski (4) Wisconsin | January 22, 2012| Updated August 6, 2008 One of my favorite breweries. The tours are enjoyable and a good value. All of their beers are absolutely drinkable. You aren’t going to find anything over the top, but there is something for everyone. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 beerwolf77 (11) Milwaukee, Wisconsin | July 10, 2009| Updated August 6, 2008 This review is for the tour as well as the private parties I’ve been to. The tour is awesome. I never walk(stumble) awy not satisfied. It’s informitive and fun. Plus you get to drink the whole tour. I’ve been to a couple weddings and their annual new years party also. Talk about heaven All the lakefront beer you can drink and the food is phenominal. I’m lucky enough to be going to another wedding in October. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 StewardofGondor (122) Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin | February 17, 2005| Updated August 6, 2008 A must in Milwaukee. They have at least 5 of their beers on tap at any given time. Sometimes they have some of their most recently brewed beer and upcoming seasonal brews tapped downstairs. If the beer you want isn’t tapped upstairs, you can barter with the bartenders to get it in the bottle. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 BenC (5) Wisconsin | July 29, 2009| Updated August 6, 2008 Lakefront offers the best brewery tour I have been on so far! $6 buys you a plastic cup, four drink tickets, and a coupon for a free Lakefront beer at a bar in the area. The tour was not too short and not too long. The tour guide was hilarious; she was a grade school teacher doing brewery tours as a way to earn a little extra (probably beer) money. She kept us entertained the whole time, which in hindsight probably wasn’t that hard considering the amount of beer we were consuming throughout the tour. The only downside to visiting the brewery is a limited tap selection. I wanted to try the IPA and some of the seasonals, but all they had were the year round regulars. Ah well, still highly recommended. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 17/20 cblado (4) Washington | January 24, 2012| Updated August 6, 2008 Visited today with MeisterBrauMHB. I’d wanted to do the tour for a long time. It’s a very simple tour, but the guide spiced it up quite a bit by 1) serving us beer before, during, and after the tour, and 2) being the co-founder and brother of the current owner. He was very personable, a real Milwaukee character. The facilities are simple, but the interior of the building has a really cool German beer hall feel to it. The beer itself was great too. I’ve been a fan of their products, particularly their Riverwest Stein Beer, for quite a while. Also, for the value, it’s awesome. For $7 you get the tour, 4 six-ounce tasters of beer, a Lakefront Brewery pint glass, a discount on merchandise, and a coupon for a free Lakefront product at one of several bars in the area. That bears repeating but I’m running out of room. Basically, just go and do the tour. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 mrjaxson (27) .08 Junction, Wisconsin | September 29, 2006| Updated August 6, 2008 Do you like to drink beer? No, really, that’s what this tour is all about. The tour doesn’t start until everyone fills up their brand new pint glass with a choice of the five or so Lakefront products in production. After the initial part of the tour, you are encouraged to get a refill. As you loop around the little brewery, you are again offered another fill-up. And, after the tour is over, if you sit on the patio overlooking the Milwaukee River (summer only), the tour assistants come out the back door with a box of freshly poured cups. Do not even DREAM of driving home from this tour. Make sure to take along an understanding partner who will take the car keys and get you home (and also keep refilling his or her glass for you once they have entered designated-driver mode). Honestly, this is THE Milwaukee beer tour (Miller is completely bogus) and one that should be made on a Friday evening when the fish fry is served and the polka band is playing. |
