78 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 KPD (117) Michigan | January 4, 2013| Updated January 7, 2013 Stopped in Friday pm at happy hour pricing. Not many folks in the place yet. Beautiful place, in the national historic register. Really nice interior and exterior. Good tap list with US micros and some internationals. Must stop for beer drinkers IMO. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 coharahawk (57) Milwaukee, Wisconsin | July 4, 2012| Updated January 7, 2013 Only been once during MKE beer week for KBS draft release. I enjoyed my brief visit there and tap list at the time was epic. I’m not sure about the regular tap list. The bartender was super friendly. I will be back next time I’m in the area. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 esjaygee (236) Oak Creek, Wisconsin | May 20, 2012| Updated January 7, 2013 25 tap lines and a food menu are enough to make me frequent this close to home place often. The beer list has something for everyone and they use the 25 tap lines well. Old wooden décor, a bier garten and TVs around the bar to check out the game give this place a livelier feel than most beer bars in the area. The service has always been good and the food while not out of this world is decent enough to make this a nice place to get dinner and good beers at a reasonable price. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 AWISLguy (70) Wisconsin | October 5, 2011| Updated January 7, 2013 It has reopened, and sounds similar to before; large number of taps with some elite stuff mixed in, including DFH which is not supposed to be in WI any longer?? Interesting very old building with personality. Didn’t try the food, so no comment there. 5 minute turn around to pick someone up from arrivals at the airport. I’ll go back. | 100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 moonstermil (1) Wisconsin | September 15, 2011| Updated October 5, 2012 The rumor is true The Landmark 1850 Inn will be opening again September 18th @ 11:00 am for the packer game. Never enjoyed the smokiness, but always had good service anda fine selection. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 twindadplus2 (7) Wisconsin | July 1, 2008| Updated October 5, 2012 Great selection of tap beers and decent enough food. Bar staff was always friendly and talkative even when busy. I heard originally that they were renovating the old building, now I hear that they will not be moving back. I hope it’s not true because I would miss the old building. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 10/20 jbuzz (35) Milwaukee, Wisconsin | June 30, 2008| Updated October 5, 2012 I’d been here several times ove rthe last 10 years or so. Last time was after seeing BB King a fews back. I’ll miss it. | 86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 Ughsmash (138) Waukesha, Wisconsin | January 8, 2008| Updated October 5, 2012 I’ve been here a few times, and usually shortly after opening, so I cannot comment on the rush. This rating reflects the pre-renovation condition, as that was my last trip. The bar has a very convenient airport/Amtrak location, which works well for unexpected travel delays (or can cause them). The interior was dark and slightly smoky, with the impressive array of taps providing most of the aesthetic appeal. I’ve never had anything but friendly, attentive, and informative service. The beer selection is very good, usually with more than one how the hell did he get that kinda taps. The place was a little smoky, but it’s a bar. Great stuff! | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 surlysober (24) Milwaukee, Wisconsin | January 6, 2008 The Landmark 1850 does have a few redeeming qualities: 50 taps (most of which are high-quality American crafts)... But, that’s about it. The ambiance isn’t bad, but it’s not great either. Same goes for the service. And, I have one complaint that balances out the huge positive that comes from their large selection. On several occasions I’ve had beers there that tasted much worse than what I’m accustomed to from those same brands from a bottle. I’m not sure if it’s dirty glassware, unclean taplines, or what, but there’s a distinct difference between their taps and my other experiences with those beers. So, overall, the Landmark is OK, but it still doesn’t compare with some of Milwaukee’s other top beer bars. |
