Bier Circus has to be the most fun I’ve ever had in a beer bar. After stumbling in the first night in Brussels after drinking too much elsewhere, we went back the next night and spent most of it sitting at the bar. The beer list is phenomenal, stocked with rare vintages and little known Wallonian beer, we mixed ordering old vintage geuze with tripels and Belgian strong ales from small breweries we had never heard of. The staff was awesome, they chatted with us, danced around with folks at the bar, even rolled me a cigarette from my bag of shag. The crowd and music were very chill, very relaxed, enjoying the night - it was great. Got a good recommendation for the Kameleon Tripel from them, one of the better finds during my travels in Europe. However, the best beer I’ve ever had in my life was bought here, the Drie Fonteinen Framboos, 1999 vintage. We considered going back the next day again, but we had such a good time the night before that we didn’t want to try to compete with that experience, rather to let it stay as one of the better nights of the year.
Thes best place of Bruxelles!!
well i dont think i have to say much here. but this is a must if in brussels. we had several biers of high quality. i let the bartender pick for us and he did not steer us wrong. make sure to get a cheese plate with your gueze (absolutely beatiful). food is great.
Le Bier Circus is one of the great beer bars in Belgium, and a must visit when in Brussels. Only a 5-10 minute walk from the Grand Place, it's located on a relatively non-descript street. Inside, it has a front main/bar area with 2 smaller rooms in the back. The decor is nice with beer memorabilia and large murals of Belgian comic strip characters. The bottled beer list is very good. But, the real gem is the Vintage beer list, which includes old geuzes, Westvleteren 12's, Alexanders, etc. I had a '94 Vander Linden Frambozenbier (on the owners recommendation) that was outstanding. This place is run by people who are truly passionate about beer. I asked about some white beers, and was given a blanche from Ellezelloise that I'd never seen before (not even at the better stores in town- Beer Mania and Bier Tempel). It was one of the best white beers I've had w/ the smell almost being better than the taste. The food is also very good at Le Bier Circus. However, there is some unfortunate news, as this beer institution is in danger because of a new landlord situation. Please help out Le Bier Circus and sign the petition at their website. This place is a real treat, and it would be a shame if something happened.
Well, this place consumed several nights of our trip in May of 2003. The beer selection was incredible. Fortunately, I found out beforehand that they had a vintage list that was not handed out with the standard list. That made it even better. I had several awesome beers but the one liked best came with the best meal I had there - steak with shallots et faro. Had the 94 Fantome Automne. That is worth the trip to that place alone. The Flemish Beef(stoofvles) with Westmalle was awesome. The Chimay choclate mousse was awesome as well as the spaghetti bolognaise. The bar itself is small with many old beer signs and glasses adorning the walls. Beer is served in each brewery's glass when available, otherwise still served with proper glassware. The bartender (owner?) was very friendly even when we saw him at another beerpub before Bier Circus opened. Can't wait to return!
Cool place. Wish I would have went there more than once. GREAT beer list, helpful staff. Kind of out of the way, but thatís better, because you donít get the tourists. Even though I think they lied to me about not having any more Framboos, Iíll give them a good rating. The food looked good too, though I didnít have any.
Great place to enjoy excellent beer and traditional Belgian cuisine cooked with beer. The waiter was very friendly and spoke good English. Prices are high but thatís normal for Brussels. Beer list was impressive and the food was quite decent. The whole establishment is clean, friendly and very inviting. Recommended!
I came here several times during my stay in Brussels. This might be my favorite spot in this city. A very good beer list overall, but the best is the amazing Lambic selection. The best Cantillon selection Iíve seen anywhere and it has good stuff from most other Lambic breweries as well. Didnít eat but got free chips next to my beer. Service is helpful. Prices arenít cheap but they are still reasonable.
