Idiosyncratic? Without a doubt, but just like their matchbook cover says, every lover of finely crafted brews is welcome in this shrine of beer. Try the classic Ambrée, or the flavour of the moment, an excellent dry hopped IPA, or the Breakfast Stout. Go on in! Really, don’t be shy! What an excellent beer experience, for over 20 years.

First of all, I have been goin there for 20years! One of the places that made me discover good beer.Really like the renovations they did. Much roomier, but still has the same personnality.Very nice place to go enjoy a good beer and hang out for an evening. The level of quality has gone way up in the past couple of years. The brewers makes products that can compare with the best out there. Very recommended. If you are not sure about a beer ask for a little taste before getting a pint and you will know what you are getting...

Different then the other places we checked out in Montreal. different is good. Thier house beers are so-so, but very drinkable. They were the only place we found american micros. The place was interesting, relaxed and enoyable.

Very interesting place. seems to have a retro atmosphere accented by what appear chinese themed lantern light things. pretty neat. the beer is good quality. the service was the best of the montreal brewpubs in my opinion. our server engaged us in conversations in english on several occasions, all while the place was packed. I would definitely return.

I love it here, and it’s my wife’s favorite brewpub in town. The place is very dark, both in decor and lighting, very 80’s "post modern". it does get buisy at night, but the walls absorb sound so well it’s the noise is never overpowering. Very clean also. It feels like you’re average french canadian corner pub, a great place to come after work for a no noncence pint or 2. The staf is mostly french, but even though most bartenders dont speak much english, they work SO hard at comunicating it realy makes the non-bilungual feel welcom. Beers on tap change fairly quickly, so fast that somtimes you see a complete menu change in a couple of weeks. They also make some {660 ml}bottled beers, mostly specialty, at a higher price, and I normaly only see one on sale at a time {maple ale for the last couple of months} . Beers generaly amasing, but simtimes they are a real miss. Mostly lagers, but they always seem to have sum of form pale ale on tap, as well as a stout, but it seems when ever I take someone there to try the wonderfull world of {non pale} lager, there are mostly ales on tap. Super points for comfort and more for the fact there are almost ALWAYS 2 or 3 new beers to taste every couple of weeks. Also, for the outa-towner, the grocery store, RIGHT across the street has a very nice selection of quebec brewed beer. Cheers.

April 2012. A dark bar that you can get far too comfortable in, assuming you find a seat. While we were there, we tried a triple that had been aged in Jack Daniels barrels. This beer... easily is in my top 5 list. It was delightful from start to finish! There are about 7 beers on tap, most of them brewed by them, but one or two from a sister/local brewery. A must-stop for the craft beer drinker in Montreal.

This brewpub, the oldest still active in Montreal (since 1987), is a large place offering very nice beers (also from other breweries like De Molen)). Clearly worth a visit.

Le Cheval Blanc est un des plus ancien "brewpub" à Montréal. Il fut longtemps une référence dans le domaine. Rénover récemment et sur un nouvel air d’aller... il vaut absolumment la visite, vous y reviendrai!

A very welcoming place, quite well located. 8 to 10 of their beers on tap, some of them being most interesting (Saisons, IPA, Imperial Stout, Bauweraerts...). Rather small but well-selected offering of imported beers, most being unavailable in Québec (unless you buy a whole 150$ case that you’ve waited 4 months for...). Excellent service. To me, this place in the Top 4 on the Montréal brewpub scene (with DDC, L’Amère à Boire and Benelux, all located in a mile and a half radius; that’s why I live in the boring suburbs: I’d have no strenght to endure such temptation if I’d live close from there!).
