One of the best pubs in Brussels which is surprising considering it’s location. Great atmosphere with lots of quirky paraphnalia and a highly intelligent beer menu specialising in new(Senne, BGV, Trois Fouquet) and more established(De Ranke,Kerkom etc) with the emphasis on quality rather than quntity.

a much nicer place then you would expect in the heart of touristic Brussels. (the place is situated with view on manneke pis, the famous naked little guy) The staf is very friendly and well educated about their beers. Everytime you order something more rare they have to leave a big smile. Maybe that’s because too many tourists ordering Jupiler. Excellent service including a rather theatrical serving method in front of your table. Of course they use the little baskets to poor their nice selection of lambics. My high service ratings are also based on a free beer they gave us after closing time, without as far as I know having a particular reason for it.
So I suppose they just like it when you’re not ordering a Jupiler.
small snacks are available, the ordinairy but good and more rare stuff as brawn (zure zult) and other simular thing I suppose are typical local thingies. I noticed some main simples dishes as pastas as well, but did not try them.
futhermore a lovery interior with old theaterp

Call it touristy if you want, but I fell in love with this place. Cedric totally took care of us and kept us in the beers we liked. For me he recomended three hoppier beers and a couple of Gueuzes and a Pêcheresse for my wife. Sitting outside was great until it started to sprinkle. Then the inside was great too. Decorated like a packrat’s basement. basement.

My first day in Belgium, jet-lagged, I went to the Cantillon brewery, the Mannekin Pis, and then stopped at this place for a respite. This place is adjacent to the Mannekin Pis, and is a great place to observe people at the statue and enjoy a great beer list (150+ beers) under a slightly creepy but cool marionette motif. This was the best beer bar I visited in Brussels (also saw Beer Circus, Delirium Café, and Beer Mania).
Ambience is a bit strange...lots of puppets and other kitsch hanging from the ceiling...reminded me of what a 150-year old TGI Friday’s would look like if depicted in the movie EuroTrip, but somehow cooler than that.
Selection was terrific. Our server was also quite good. He spoke excellent English, and had a good knowledge of what was in inventory and was able to give recommendations based on what members of our party said they liked in a beer. Everyone was happy with what he brought.
I thought prices were quite reasonable.
If you are in Brussels, and you like beer, it would be a tragedy to miss stopping at the Poech. Subsequent visits to other beer places recommended in Tim Webb’s excellent book Good Beer Guide: Belgium didn’t make me think anything less of the Poech – great selection, great service, a non-tourist feel despite being next adjacent to a major tourist attraction.

Don’t be fooled by tho location in a tourist hotspot, directly next to Manneken Pis. This is a serious beer bar!
Good choice of beers on the menu, but I especially enjoy their changing offer, which often features interesting brews, including one on tap.
Good atmosphere inside, friendly staff.

Great place a few feet from Manneken Pis (you can sit on the terrace and watch it). Looks like from another century, packed full, it surly shows all the history that this place is renowned for. Very good selection of beers.
