Fairly decent selection of beer, but certainly nothing special. Worth dropping by if one happens to be in the neigbourhood, but far from a must visit. Possibly one of the best grocery stores in Bergen for beer, but I didn’t see anything I haven’t seen in Oslo here.

One of the better places to get beer in grocery stores.

A grocery deli located in the basement of Galleriet.Well above the average Norwegian grocery store beer selection and undoubtedly deserving a Ratebeer place rating. I’ve been here twice and found new beers here both times. Norwegian micros and British ales dominate. Service levels seem normal. They listened to advice from a fellow beer shopper.

Pretty impressive selection in the middle of Bergen city. Most Norwegian micros, also som Brits and Scots observed, well worth a visit if you are in the city centre.

A nice grocery store in the very heart of Bergen. I suppose they stock more than 40-50 beers. Many from Scotland, Wales and England which I haven’t seen before in Norway. (Visited September 14th 2013)

Used to be one of the few places where you could get some rarities (meaning things that other grossery stores did not have) but has lately lost it’s position here. Still, they have a nice selection of 4.7% ABV beers, and every now and then they are the first to get in new stuff on the marked. They are also8or at least have been) good to listen to customer advice on what they should have in their shelf’s. The store has recently been upgraded so it’s actually not a bad place to go grossery shopping. Centrally as is it, probably worth a drop in if you are in the area and interested in below 4.7% ABV beers.

Due to the sad state of affairs when it comes to beer selection in Bergen shops, this is the supermarket with the (probably) widest selection of below 4,75% ABV in the city centre of Bergen. A fairly wide selection of Norwegian macros, the Nøgene Ø range of below 4,75, some british and a very few other beers. Being a supermarket there is no ambience and the service consists in letting you choose and pay for your beers. It is very pricey though, and you’ll get most of their range for less elsewhere.

While not exactly a "beer store" (those are very, very rare in Norway) Lerøy Mat is one of the grocery stores in Bergen who has an above-average selection of beer. That is, beer below the 4,7% ABV value which is legal to sell in ordinary shops in Norway. Has a pretty decent selection of international lagers, a few English ales, some German specialties and the full range of Nøgne Øs grocery-store-legal productions. Pricey of course, but this is Norway we’re talking about. All in all Lerøy Mat, Galleriet is not great, but pretty good considering Norway’s depressing state of affairs concerning places to buy good beer - at least outside of the state-controlled "Wine Monopoly".
