Apart from Känguruh, this is my favorite beer pub in Vienna. They have a huge range of self brewed beer, of which, unfortunatly usually only 5 or so are on offer. Overall the offering is very good though, and the quality of the brews have improved considerably over the last couple years. Prices are very good by Vienna standards, especially for the quality you get. Food quality is ok, but again prices are very good, and portions are usually big. Definitly recommended. Big plus, they have an updated list of the beers they have on offer (see beer menu, and scroll down and open one of the pdfs). description in german only though. This place should definitly be rated better. The ambience is not that great, and it takes a bit to get here form the city center, but thats about it. Often, the brewmaster himself is also at the pub / behind the bar.

this is so far the best place in vienna i’ve found in terms of a brew pub. they make all their beer on site and the brewer is seemingly knowledgable in foreign styles. although, the beers sometimes come out unbalanced and therefore undrinkable. it’s hard to know what you’re brewing when you don’t know what the styles originally taste like, ie amber ales, pales and IPAs. but like i said, the beer is often tasty and the service is usually good, although watch out when they get busy. look for west coast pale ale and black IPA. they are the best offerings so far. the prices are super decent, especially for good craft beer. the food is nothing to write home about, but satisfies after a couple beers.

After living in Vienna for a year and a half, this pub is breath of fresh air. Most places serve the same 3 flavors of beer: bland helles, overly sweet dunkel, and weizen, which is usually pretty good.
While in the tram, I noticed a sign that said "Craft Beer," which drew me like a moth to a lightbulb as I was craving good and different beer. Now my wife and have dinner here every couple of weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed every meal and every beer. While the selection isn’t large, its very diverse and constantly rotating with weekly menus and different beers on each visit.
For a home brewer and beer snob such as myself, the dining room is very interesting with many books about brewing. The food is good, the beer is awesome. The only thing I’d change about this place is that I wish I had found it sooner.

Basically his place should be higher on the list as it IS an excellent brewpub. The service is very good and if you meet the brewer he is very interested to tell you all about his beer. What makes it rank lower on the list is basically two fold. 1) the food isn’t very good 2) you do really ever know when new beers are available. You basically have to keep popping in. If this place expanded a bit, got some more taps, updated when new beers were on and improved it’s food quality, this would be easily a high ranking brewpub. The beer is top notch but the pub could use some work.

I seriously can’t get the 14/100 rating, especially after the rater say he only had a sip of beer and then left. Anyway, the place is quite nice and relaxed, small tables for couples or large long tables for bigger groups. They don’t have 45 different dishes, but a rather fair selection of Austrian very well served ones like the Wiener Schnitzel or more classic ones like the very nice Bauer Burger (Farmer’s Burger - BACON!).
The beers are well above average and count with a personal selection of ingredients. Ranges from Helles beer and radler (a mix with beer and lime) to a nice porter and very pleasant pale ales (my personal favorites). The staff is beyond friendly (as long as you are not a total a**hole I assume). The waitress is very sympathetic and the brewmaster is an awesome guy. Completely on his wishes, he came to talk to us, about the beers he brewed, the ingredients and why he chose them and even gave us some hints on beer brewing (we were about to have our first batch!). Call them first to see what is available and if it meets your taste, but it will anyway surely be a nice visit.

Since they changed their beer range, this has become one of the best brewpubs in Vienna! There are two rooms, non-smoking and smoking. The interior is minimalistic but nice, with a brew kettle, beer pictures and beer books to read. The food is down-to-earth, but tasty, the staff is really friendly and prices are fair! They usually have a handful of beers from tap and three from bottle, all self brewed, really tasty and far beyond average for Austrian means, always offering some (D)IPAs and/or Belgian style ales. Overall highly recommended!

The beer menu has undergone a huge change since some of those reviews from before 2013. They are a lot better now and they offer a huge variety. This isn’t the most touristy part of Vienna, but it’s worth checking out if you live here or if you love beer. My top pics are the Cascadian Dark, the Wiener Wildhopferl and the Pacific and West Coast ales.

Very pleasant Viennese "Pub". Has undergone many changes since late 2013. The beer selection has expanded. Good honest food if a bit limited in selection. Gulasch and Blunzgröstl highly recommended. Ribs when available are also very good. Love the Five Continents Double IPA, Cascadian Dark and West Coast Pale Ale. Recommended.
