42 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 10/20 FatPhil (251) Tallinn, Estonia | March 21, 2011 Huge restaurant. If you like wood, you’ll be in log heaven. Worth one visit just so you can say you’ve been there. Food selection astronomic. To be honest, the Tallinn one was better though, quality-wise. You can pour your own beers, which I like. Always fresh and live as this is the brewery tap. A Baltic taxi will take you there for about 4 Lats from the bus station (other carriers will be 7 Lats), so unless you like trams and risking getting lost, just grab a cab, there’s a rank outside to take you back. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 Dorqui (123) Brescia, Italy | October 12, 2010 I’ve visited the LIDO pub in Dzirnavu iela. Realy nice pub/restorant where find only two taps beers and some latvian bottles. The particularity is that place is a serlf-service restaurant with a good choose of latvian tipical food. The price are not much low. Quiet and with a lot tables where sit. | 44 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 10/20 KnutAlbert (240) Oslo, Norway | March 26, 2008
Formal restaurant upstarirs,
cafeteria on the ground florr,
beer hall downstairs.
Not much happening here in the winter.
Good food, similar to the other LIDO restaurants.
You can buy takeaway souvenir bottles of their beer, but they are quite expensive.
Fine beers, interesting tram ride that gives a contrast to the Old Town. | 36 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 2/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 8/20 faroeviking (131) , Faroe Islands | February 3, 2008 I just went there for the beer...and that all indeed. Very bad service and quite expensive food (though it was good) for such a self service place. | 40 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 8/20 Gazza (160) Worcester, England | July 27, 2007 Surreal huge log cabin-type structure theme park which feels nauseatingly Disney-esque in it’s tweeness with a working windmill (well, the sails go round) to crown it, this place is billed as a Latvian restaurant and somewhat downplays it’s role as Rīga’s only brewpub but I’m convinced the beer is brewed there and the buffet is about as extensive as it’s possible to get – two massive platefuls cost us just over £10.
Take tram 7 (direction Dole) to the Atpūtas centrs “LIDO” stop and take the first right towards the river; it’s signposted and, at night, just follow the garish neon lights! 5-10 minutes from the tramstop.
