Solid beer bar. There are many taps with solid beers on tap. Always something good and a good atmosphere as well. No food served here. Becomes busy and a college like bar later in the evenening, but if you come early or happy hour time it is a nice beer bar with a pretty solid selection of 30 or so taps. Well worth the visit.

This place has flown way up my "bars worth going to" chart in the last few months. Why? Because of their new focus on tap takeovers and featured beer nights! Have been their for tap takeovers for: Southern Tier, Dogfish Head, Harpoon, and they are having a "Belgian night" coming up later this month! An additional bonus- always free, help yourself, popcorn!

The beer selection is pretty good and the prices are reasonable, but itís just hard to get past the UAlbany frat bro atmosphere on the weekends. Itís crowded, it smells, but at least the beer is pretty good.

Ah, the Lionheart. Iíve never heard this bar appended with "Blues Cafe," but I havenít been there in a while. The reason for this is that it smells of urine, vomit, and sweaty, skanky college guys. Word to the wise, donít eat the popcorn from the popcorn machine toward the back. The negatives aside, I will say that the beer selection is quite good, probably second only to Maharís. Iíve had some pretty rare beers there, even some one-offs, and the bartenders are pretty nice considering the clientele are usually drunken college kids. Theyíre always willing to provide a sample of a beer if you want. Definitely worth a stop.

Very surprised that this place has not been entered until now; This is Albanyís alternative to Mahars (i.e. another Serious Beer bar). Jerry recently updated the whole place, and Mike gets Great beers. Most are $3-$4 from HH (3pm-6pm weekdays); All the bartenders are great, and generous with samples. The beer lineup is superb, with always about 4 Extremely hard to find taps; recent selections included: Rogue double choc stout; Southern Tier Choklat; Corsendonk X-mas; Troegs; Deschutes; Sierra Anniv; Weihenstephan Vitus; Chimay Triple; Dog fish head World wide stout (tap). overall, a MUST VISIT when in Albany.
