Big store so thereís plenty of exploring to do. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and a pretty respectable beer selection from taps to bottles. I always enjoy stopping in here when Iím in this end of town.

PROS: Nice, common sense layout, with beer bottles/cans near the back of the store. A nice tap area/sitting area as soon as you walk in with quite a variety of taps (if memory serves me correctly, up to 24 there) with a good mix of local, regional, etc. You can get a 6 oz. pour for less than two dollars, and walk around the store with it, which is a major plus for me. Selection is the best out of the Liquor Barn stores in the area, especially for their tap/growler prices and single 12 oz. bottles. If youíve been to another LB, you have an idea of what I mean. They carry most of the more commonly available stuff in the area, and at very competitive prices. The store features a decent sized area for food purchases, mostly cheese and other party entertainments. As Iíve mentioned already, their pricing is very competitive; youíre not likely to find that bottle cheaper anywhere else in the city, unless itís on sale. CONS: Service, while not markedly bad, also feels just moderately knowledgeable about beer for the most part, which is understandable since beer isnít their primary focus. I get that. In terms of selection, you arenít going to find anything too rare here. In terms of beer focused selection/service, you are better off at Louisville Beer Store or Keg Liquors. OVERALL: A nice location in an underserviced part of town; nice to have around if you are in the LaGrange, Crestwood, etc. area as it is much closer than LBS or Keg. Parking is ample, since they are located in a shopping center. Definitely very convenient to the area, but not worth an out of town trip (unless your local area is a beer desert).

It is a liquor store not a bar or restaurant. That being said, it has a nice selection of snack food and better than acceptable cigar room. The wine and spirits is one of the best around. The beer? 40 good rotating taps. They offer 2 and 6 oz sample pours at reasonable rates (state law, no free beer samples). After trying 6-8 very good brews, you can take home 32 or 64 oz growlers. Growlers are available for sale, or you can use your own. Thur-Sat there are usually wine, spirit and beer special sampling after work. A descent cheese or meet app is usually included. Huge number of six packs and singles available in the warm aisles or large cooler. OK on site keg selection, but they will try to order what is not there. Little disappointed that they dont sell empty Korny kegs for home brewers, but there is a wine making and brewing store about 2-3 miles down the road.

This is much like the other Liquor Barns around town. The location is pretty convenient if you happen to be driving through.
The best thing, which I donít remember the other locations having, is a tap with about 10 options. Most are local and a half growler fill was only $4.99 to $6.99 depending on the beer. When compared to the bottles sometimes it is actually cheaper.
Check it out if you are in the area then drive across the river to Keg Liquors or into downtown to the Louisville Beer Store for the best selection in the area.

Drove from Nashville to get some different beers. The place is huge, a one stop party store. The beer selection was great, but some of the beer had been on the shelf for to long. Large selection of pick a six, nothing real special. Overall a great store.

Similiar to the one on Hurstbourne Ln. but is newer and cleaner. Service has been nonexistant which I donít understand. Employees could walk past you without asking if you need help. I couldnít reach some bottles so I actually climbed the shelves to get them. Youíd think that get someoneís attention. Nope. The only reason I go there is because the prices are reasonable and Iím looking for something specific. Selection seems a little off during the summer months. Been noticing that throughout the nation.

Pretty much the same as the hurstborne location, but a little less pleasing, though still very acceptable. Great selection, few singles, few bombers. Party store. Its out of my way, but is still worth a drop in, and if it isnt out of your, then it is a must visit.

The Springhurst store is ,imho, the best of the three, with the hurstbourne a close second. It isnít much in the way of ambiance or in the presentation, but the selection is very good. Sales staff havenít a clue what they are talking about at any of the locations. The deli area at the springhurst and hurstbourne stores are very nice with a good selection of bread, cheeses and chocolate. There are about 5 taps that you can get growlers filled from and the selection is hit or miss. sometimes youíll find a real gem there. The hurstbourne and fern vally rd locations are self serve as far as the taps, but the springhurst will fill them for you, and offer free tasting. this is definatly a good stop if in Louisville, but mainly for the selection.

Not much on ambiance, but who goes to a place called Liquor Barn for that? The beer selection is good, with the Hurstbourne and Springhurst stores being significantly better-stocked than the Fern Valley Road location. The prices are quite good, but watch the dusty six-packs--some of the more unusual offerings may have been on the shelf for quite some time. It would be helpful if theyíd use RateBeers shelf tags, too, as this would save having to print out a "wish list" very time I head to Louisville.
