66 AMBIANCE 1/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 14/20
A small shed outside of a garden centre is not the obvious place to look for beers, but this one holds a huge number from a dozen or so Norfolk brewers, and a few from elsewhere in East Anglia. Itís linked to the Uncle Stuart brewery a few miles down the road, and offers their full current range. Prices are a little on the high side (£2.70 a bottle on average) but it does offer a 10% discount for CAMRA members. It also does a few beer giftpacks and a few local wines.
Although the selection is arranged by brewer, somehow itís still not easy to browse. I also felt a little hassled by the lady running the store, who, whilst very friendly, kept trying to tot up my bottles before Iíd finished and whilst I was still thinking about swapping some. She was the Uncle Stuartís brewers mum, and whilst very proud of her son, she quite obviously didnít share his knowledge of beer!
That said, this is a great little place where youíre almost certain to discover some bottled beers youíve not tried before, and definitely a prime place to come for your beery souvenirs of Norfolk!
