74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20
A shop with mostly British food and a nice selection of beers. Nothing too rare or interesting but this is a great place if you need a good bitter or cider.

I have no idea as to why I never noticed this place, must have walked a dozen or so times past it. It is clearly advertised, must have been tuning it out. Anyway this place is actually split across to stores opposite of each other, nr. 13 (the one listed here is where you need to be for cider & beer), nr. 18 was selling Christmas micmac’s, not sure as to what that one does rest of the year. The seem to mainly sell non perishable British foodstuff here, biscuits, marmalade etc. little of it appealed to me & I scrolled right past it. After all I can get great marmalade & cookies for far less at the supermarket. I was amused by the fact that they had “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” for sale here. Drink section carries bunch of weird soda’s which I do not think I have ever seen in the UK, they look quirky & fun. Cider is of the commercial variety, there is about 20 or so of them and it is not just Bulmer’s etc. It may be commercial but at least there is a bunch of them here that I have never seen anywhere in Belgium. Quite a few that I have never seen before. They have about as much cider as beer. Beer is limited to stuff like Old Speckled Hen, Wells Bombardier and similar ilk. Stuff you would associate with a smaller Sainsbury’s. Not per se very exiting but still lots of ticks, stuff that you won’t see elsewhere. There was plenty of stuff here that was totally new to me. Overall it is pretty fun even if it is far from the best that the UK offers. Prices are quite high, 3+ € for almost everything, it is a bit off-putting. Still I can see myself stopping here from time to time to pick up some tick or tick’s. The lady at the counter spoke real British English. It was cute that she sort of gift wrapped the bottle I picked as standard service I assume.

This is a new shop in Antwerp, it’s a general food shop. But you can also get English Bitters, Real Ale’s and pints.
If you want something special, they go back to GB every 2 weeks. So you can always order something and they will phone you back when they have it.
You can also always mail them and ask for a certain things. Really warm and good service.
