This place is wicked awesome for beer geeks. The drafts are written on a huge chalkboard near the front door, there is no printed list Although not cheap, their beer list is phenomenal-obscure, limited batch beers that you canít find many other places The food might be a little pricey, but I also find it delicious. Main Courses: Iíve covered many items: Shrimp Po Boy (a bit too much mayo for my liking), Blue Crab Quesadilla, Jambalaya (piping hot and my favorite), Local Burger (pretty good), Shrimp Tacos (amazing), Muffaletta (canít find any better in Chicago).

A nice, though loud, bar very near DePaul University. The 37 or so tap selection is very nice, and covers a wide range of styles and large number of countries. While there are bottled beers, I did not check out the beer list. We were here after the kitchen closed, so I cannot comment on the food.

local option beer menu dominated by imports. denmark, belgium, germany. mikkeller, evil twin. the mode was a $8-9 ten ounce pour. food was really good. something just seems off- what with the skullz and demons on the walls while sitting in the upscale, yuppie, lincoln park area of town. probably wonít go back, primarily because of the prices. went to map room a day later to see some of the same beers on tap for 2 dollars cheaper.

The beer/draft selection here is an IPA lovers dream. Best iíve seen in Chicago, or probably anywhere. Hard to find beers ON TAP. Great service - bartender gave samples of anything I hadnít tried before. Decent prices, didnít try the food, the ambiance is just a regular bar atmosphere. WIll be back there regularly just for the massive selection of awesome beers on tap.

Very small place. Lucky I arrived around 4pm so it was empty and the service was excellent. They have some harder to find beers from the area and beyond but nothing too amazing when I went. Fair-priced and generous 16oz pours of pretty much every beer on tap. Worth checking out if you are in the area but not really worth going out of your way for, at least from my experience.

Thank you RateBeer, again you saved the day. My 2 day trip to Chicago would have been a total washout if I didnít get a couple of hours at my new favorite midwestern beer spot. Great atmosphere and unbeatable selection of hard to find beers from the region and way beyond. The reputation of Local Option is well deserved.

I didnt eat but drank alot. Amazing tap selection. So many hard to find brews. Love it. The place is super cool. They carry miller high life...their only domestic and the have a sign front and center that.says "its miller time" i thought that was hilarious. A wonderful place.

Best beer bar in Chicago hands down, one of the best tap lists in the world, lacking on bottles...25 drafts, always local fff, always something random from Denmark, always an awesome sour, sometimes a Cantillon... this is the place to go in Chicago... its never busy, only downside is so-so bar food, its also expensive

Unfortunately this joint is too swinginí! I missed out on Founders KBS the same day they released it on tap BUT they have such an amazing draught selection it didnt really matter. HIGHLY recommended to all beer lovers, local or non-local. Food menu reflects typical bar grub that may or may not accentuate your beer experience. You come to this joint for the BEER though! Ill definitely be back.

If you are into beer, and I mean really into beer, then you must visit this place. It helps if you like metal and loud music in general. Awesome tap list that is always turning over. The owner knows his beer like nobodyís business and will talk you head off about the subject if you get him going. This is the kind of place that almost feels like a dive at times, but never disappoints on the beer front. As for decor, think lots of Miller High Life neon signs and then a huge Mikkeller neon sign right above the bar. For the FFF event that they did in the fall, I think they managed to get the whole brewpub selection on tap (well, almost). Not the cheapest place to drink, but the quality of the beers more than makes up for that.
