If you are into beer, and I mean really into beer, then you must visit this place. It helps if you like metal and loud music in general. Awesome tap list that is always turning over. The owner knows his beer like nobody’s business and will talk you head off about the subject if you get him going. This is the kind of place that almost feels like a dive at times, but never disappoints on the beer front. As for decor, think lots of Miller High Life neon signs and then a huge Mikkeller neon sign right above the bar. For the FFF event that they did in the fall, I think they managed to get the whole brewpub selection on tap (well, almost). Not the cheapest place to drink, but the quality of the beers more than makes up for that.

Good selection, but I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have 2 of the 4 beers I was expecting them to have based on ther availablity list. But the two that I had were excellent. I was also expecting a nice bottle menu, none offered. 24 excellent beers on tap makes this place a top beer bar. Can’t top Eulogy in Philly.

I visited this place on two separate occasions. Seemed pretty mellow and laid back. Lots of great beers on tap, so I didn’t even see the bottle list. Pretty busy during the mid evenings, and a lot of people were enjoying the food. I didn’t try any, but it looked good. The prices are pretty much in line with other area bars. Always worth a visit if you’re nearby!

Now this is a bar that I would be at every day if I lived in Chicago. 20+ taps of incredible beers. Bartender really knows his stuff. Great atmosphere and very laid-back attitude. Kind of small which I like. Jeopardy went on the TV followed by music of every genre. All around fun time. Menu looked great but we didn’t have anything that night. Nearby, definitely check it out.

Been going to LO for a couple years now... one of the best taplists in the city. Staff is great, and offer samples even if you don’t ask. Cajun side of the menu is good, some food is a little pricey. Draft quality is high, and the selection constantly rotates. An unlikely find in lincoln park, near Goose, Binnys, down the street are Kith & Kin, and Vrai Amour.

Find this place. Taps are the best you will see, very unique selection. Had 6 Mikkellers on while I was there. Staff was really nice.
Great food, had sword fish tacos. Went back more then once while on vacation in Chicago for a week. Will return when I go back. Located near the University, watch were you park.

Absolutely love this Chicago Beer Bar! It is in a super unlikely location but so worth seeking out. They have a lovingly selected 25 taps that are constantly changing. I don’t think any beer has a designated line which means a different selection every time you go! The staff is super knowledgeable too. Proper pours, correct glassware and beers you won’t find just anywhere!

I try to make it to the Local Option as often as possible, which usually ends up being every few weeks. The food is solid and well priced. The tap selection is as good as anywhere I have been, boasting both local and import kegs. It is loud when busy, but the crowds aren’t usually too big. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and willing to help make recommendations. Overall, this is one of, if not the, best beer bars in Chicago.

Clearly, they keep it simple. I was so pleasantly surprised by this one - The food is simple fare at average prices for a reason ; you’re going to be dropping dollars on the brews here. I wouldn’t say the prices were cheap on the brews, no - somewhere in the middle to the higher side. The Burger came out super quick and was good, for sure
