Stopped in here for my brief beer moment on a trip to Chicago. This place was definitely great, both for the tap list and bottle menu. Lots of great stuff from the Midwest to drink here. I was unlucky with Three Floyds - the main reason I came - as they only had one of their beers on tap but had a Plead the 5th and some other good stuff as well. No flights here, pint is the smallest size you can get making it difficult to get taste much of the stuff - unfortunately that meant I had to leave out many of the brewpub’s own beers in favor of the other stuff around. Prices are good, some bombers really cheap. Good music, with an old Soundgarden album playing. Friendly locals.

Was there late on a weeknight. Sat at a booth in the back. The place has a dive metal bar atmosphere, which is not usually my thing, but I enjoyed my time here. The beer selection was great and I found several interesting things to try. Prices were a little high. Didn’t try the food. Service the night we were there was friendly. I’d love to go back next time in Chicago.

I was a bit surprised by the small and low-key nature of then place, considering their beer is distributed so widely now - not sure exactly what I expected, but this is basically a small beer nerd bar masquerading as a dive metal bar - seems kind of incongruous, really - a chalk board lists the beers - no beer list to tell you the style, description, or prices (because fuck you) - the bartender was willing to describe the beers, but seemed kind of annoyed to do so - the selection had a few imports, a lot of common regional stuff, plus some smaller local stuff like Pipeworks and Half Acre - good assortment, but nothing of world-class caliber - bottle selection seemed decent - service was gruff - not rude (at least not until later), just kind of aloof and coarse - he’d point at me to see if I wanted anything - monosyllabic communication - I did not try the food, as I’d just eaten at Goose Island - beer prices are astronomical - I had two low-gravity beers (a shaker of lager and a ten ounce Belgian single, both local) and the bill came to sixteen bucks (I can only imagine what the imports and higher gravity stuff costs) - actually, from what I could see on the computer behind the counter, it was 15.50, but the bartender told me 16 (because fuck you) - when I handed him my card, he rather rudely told me that there was a 20 dollar minimum on debit/credit cards - naturally, there is no signage anywhere around the bar indicating this (because fuck you) - perhaps seeing that I was taken off guard by this, he told me he would run the card "this time," acting like it was the biggest damn hassle in the world and he was doing me this huge favor - overall, I guess I’m glad I visited, but I probably wouldn’t return here - in hindsight, I should have just stayed at Goose Island and had some more (less expensive) beers in a more comfortable environment.

Visited mid-afternoon to meet a friend and have a beer. I was the only person in the bar when I got there, and the guy working the bar was very welcoming and friendly. Smaller room, very much a bar layout. Sort of a grunge metal feel to it, though it was very clean. 30 high quality taps, featuring 9 Local Option beers. Food is also available with a Cajun focus. Easily the best draft selection I saw during my weekend trip to Chicago.
88 = ★★★★ (best in area, a must for locals and visitors)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.

Had a great time here. Gave Alexi a surprise visit and left late, causing a hungover flight to Amsterdam the next day. Great beer, blasting metal in the speakers. I’d come back

I have to give this place props for the selection and the amazing and rare beer they bring.. I mean they got founders CDN breakfast stout. Awesome. When I went there though.. The music was blaring loud, the service was iffy... And the place was beyond packed... And I realize this was a special occasion.. But it was still kind of annoying. You absolutely have to go here when in town... But brace yourself.

Neighboorhood dive bar with a massive tap list and some very cool bottles. Very friendly service and loud metal music. I wish this was my corner bar.

Divey Bar and Restaurant by DePaul in a nice area. Plenty of their own beers on tap, along with guys taps. They need to list the style or a description of their beers instead of just a name that tells us nothing. Food was good, and cost was reasonable.

Stopped in on Monday to check this place out. It has a legendary reputation in Ohio. Stories of some of the hardest to find beer on the planet being on tap or in bottles any day of the week. Well, it did not disappoint. Aside from their own brews, which are amazing, they had a dozen or so guest beers. I had been trying to get Firestone Walker Velvet Merkin for a few years and there it was. There was no Bourbon County left on the shelves but they had it. Definitely worth the trip. Just a heads up, the kitchen is closed on Mondays.

Walking in the door you are immediately greeted with the vibe of a local tavern. The selection offers a couple of "local" drafts which are done by either Central Waters or Against the Grain along with additional regional drafts. My only real complaint might be the fact that the prices were not listed on the board at the time I visited a few years ago. For the most part they are in line with Chicago but some border on $9 or $10 a handle. Even so I’d consider this place a "must visit" at least once during a trip to Chicago.
