This is without doubt the best pub I have been to in 33 years in Australia! The ambience is good, the food good and wholesome without being ’yuppy’ and the beers brewed on site are all very good (particularly Trafalgar Bitter). We were there on a Friday evening and the place was busy but the crowd well behaved. There was an abundance of capable bar staff too. Great pub!

Visited with a mate on a wet cold Saturday and they had the log fire roaring. Had the pleasure of meeting Damon the brewer and enjoyed having a beer with him and his mate Jason who shared a few bottles of his under the bar stash with us. Damon even gave us a pre-release sample of Broadside and then accompanied us to Harts Pub for a few more beers.

My favourite pub, in the Historic Rocks area of Sydney, a magnificent old sandstone building, home to some magnificent beers brewed on the premises. Receommend the Three Sheets

Lovely traditional old school pub with a warm convivial atmosphere, efficient service from very busy bar staff and a decent selection of taps with prices per pint more favourable than some other local competitors competing for the ’craft’ dollar.

Nice pub, good atmosphere and always a good range of beers mostly with an English bent (which are served too cold). I usually drop in for a few if I’m in Sydney - never noticed the food menu, been too busy quaffing down pints.

Have been several times and has great ambiance with good beers and good food. Highly recommend going.

Beautiful place in the Rocks, the place to be for nice old pubs. Good ambiance, the service is performed by some nice young waitresses. Decent selection of 5 of their own beers on tap. I didn’t take the food, but it looked pretty decent. At least better than bangers and mash....

I had two weeks in Sydney during 2006, mostly trying beers and different bars. This was my favourite drinking establishment. Open plan, plenty of serving area around the large bar and a good choice (mainly British style beers) on tap. It is located a short walk from the louder, youngster style bars of ’The Rocks’ and well worth finding. I liked the list of names on the wall. Every person who arrived on the very first flotilla bringing convicts to Oz are on the lists. The lists are by ship, it just sends you back to the birth of a nation, it made me think a bit.

Been meaning to get here for a while, finally made it for a Sunday lunch while in the area. Beer selection was impressive - 6 if their own brews supplemented by a couple of extras, including a special guest tap. Bottle selection looked pretty good too, although it will be a couple of visits before I’ll need to delve into the fridge. Had the Quayle Ale to start. A summer ale, it served as a great thirst quencher after the walk up from the harbour. It was clean and crisp without being bland, and can imagine it being very The Old Admiral I followed it up with took a bit of adjusting too, although this task was made easier by my meal choice, a nice pie with mash and mushy peas. It showed itself to have a strong, complex malty character, however it was hard to detect the advertises hoppy bitterness. My only quibble over all was the service - seemed focused on recognised locals rather than new faces like myself. Despite this, it was still an overwhelmingly positive experience, one which I’ll be keen repeat soon.

One of Sydney’s best pubs. Great building, decent beer (served in pints), good food, and it usually has a bit of buzz about it. The negatives are that seats can be scarce and the bar crowded, and the beers are competent, rather than inspired.
